<Bruce> Hola, Sabre. We've got a fun situation going on at the moment. The PCs captured a mess of goblin women, children, and elders last session and are debating what to do with them. The kobolds the PCs are temporarily allied with want to take the goblins to be food. Not all the PCs are in favor.
<Sabre> Oh, cool!
<Sabre> Soylant Blue is *Goblins!*
* Bruce laughs.
<BAgame> If I was playing a barbarian, I'd be calling dibs on the choice bits.
<Bruce> Time is also a little short in that the PCs have reason to believe that the chief goblin's guards aren't far away, which means that cogitation cannot be as in depth as some might like.
<Bruce> I love this kind of thing in a game, did I ever mention? :)
<Sabre> You've implied. <g>
<BAgame> Now see, again, this is where being a barbarian is handy. Just put all the prisoners to the sword, and stack their bodies into a little fort for when the other goblins come.
<BAgame> Then I can stand on the top of the little meat fort and roar like Tarzan.
<BAgame> Then begin a chant of "Fresh Meat! Fresh Meat! Fresh Meat!"
* Bruce laughs again.
<Sabre> "They call me uncivilized. I ask you. Would an uncivilized man dovetail the femurs like this? I didn't need any nails at all to build this!"
<BAgame> :)
*** Silana connected at Sat Jan 25 12:06 PM PST from 208.186.58.70.
*** Silana has joined channel 11 [Saturday D&D Chatter].
*** Silana has joined channel 10 [Saturday D&D].
<BAgame> I really would love to play a barbarian at some point.
<Bruce> Ah, there's Dan.
*** Bruce is now known as DM.
<11: Silana> There, now I'm back on the big machine.
* BAgame tries to bribe Bruce into running this adventure again at some point, but letting us do it as Epic Level characters.
* Sabre gets quiet, since the previews and commercials are over.
* DM chuckles.
*** iChris is now known as Meridius.
*** BAgame is now known as Liatus.
<11: DM> For the benefit of Sabre and others, Jason's stats and notes for the party are at http://members.shaw.ca/ogier/dandd.htm
<DM> All right, we left off last time with Meepo and a trio of kobold guards ready to haul prisoners off to the kitchens and a goblin crone speaking on behalf of about four dozen others who'd prefer not to be eaten.
<11: Sabre> That's a lot of Goblins.
<11: DM> Goblin DNPCs, pretty much.
<11: Sabre> Ooo. 40 women, children and old men goblins. That's some fine raw materials.
<11: Sabre> Is Liatus a Cleric of "Empire?"
<11: DM> Of the Imperial Presence, in particular, yes.
<11: Liatus> The Imperial Presence. AKA the Genius of the Imperial Bloodline.
<DM> To review the physical description...
<DM> This is a really big room, about sixty feet from north to south and fifty east to west. The northwestern corner curves in, like it's butting up against a tower.
<11: Sabre> Oh, cool. Very very cool.
<Meridius> And we may be expecting large nasty goblins to be coming out of the tower-esque chamber...
*** Jason is now known as Karnak.
<DM> The whole south wall is a sprawl of junk - goblin possessions and captured goodies of various sorts, including some tools and clothes marked with designs from the nearby village of Roburcollis. Hammocks and sleeping pallets are spread out along all the walls. There are cooking pits in the middle of the room, with goblin prisoners huddled around them.
<11: Karnak> BA, I need Liatus's stats post levelup/
<11: Karnak> So I can update the website.
<DM> You folks came in big double doors in the middle of the east wall, from one of the dragon temple halls. There's a door down near the southwest corner, one in the curving section of wall, and one in the straight portion of north wall. There aren't any obvious noises from any of them at this point.
<DM> The room's lit by smoky torches mounted in wall sconces. Visiblity is bad but passable.
<DM> And there was debate about the prisoners. :)
<11: Liatus> His new spells are somewhere in the transcript from last week. I'll have to look them up.
<11: Liatus> As are his new hps and stuff .
<11: Liatus> Has anyone put the transcript up?
<11: DM> http://www.q7.com/~carter/rpg/dnd3e/meridius-and-co_session-05.html
<11: Karnak> The skill buys are in there?
<11: Liatus> No.
<11: Silana> Do you have my changes?
<11: DM> Liatus gained 5 hp and added Virtue and Doom as spells.
<11: Karnak> That's what I need, then.
<11: DM> Silana gained 5 hp and this: <11: Silana> Okay, my BAB goes to +1, which cancels out my -1 STR penalty in melee, and makes me +3 with the crossbow. Will sve went up by one, and (if I'm figuring this right) I get 4 skill points -- 2 for the level, +1 INT bonus and +1 for being human. Correct?
<11: Karnak> Silana is up to date.
<11: DM> I have Dan's mailed update around here somewhere. :)
<Goblin Crone> "Soon our chief show you all the mercy you show us." [DM]
<11: Karnak> You forwarded it to me. :)
<11: Karnak> Liatus has 5 skill points this level.
<11: Liatus> My base attack bonus went up also.
* Karnak speaks up, "I think it'd be wrong to let the kobolds eat these goblins. It's only weaken the kobolds."
* 11: Karnak nods, "And you get an extra 0 and 1st level spell each day."
<11: Liatus> As did my Fort and Will saves.
<DM> Meepo is amused. "We often have to eat worse than goblins. We manage."
<11: Karnak> What're you going to spend the skill points on?
* Meridius has a look of frustration on his face and is wondering if there's a place where the party can have a private conversation and still keep an eye on the goblins and kobolds...
<DM> You can certainly step to a corner or something.
* Karnak seems to be peering at the goblins as though wondering what they may taste like.
* Meridius waves Karnak, Liatus and Silana over to a corner while telling the kobolds, "Keep an eye on those <points at the goblins> for a moment."
<DM> Meepo nods vigorously and brandishes a javelin he's picked up. "We watch good!"
<11: Liatus> I can't even get to the page with my character sheet to look at it
<11: DM> Currently: Skills and Feats: Concentration +2, Diplomacy +7, Innuendo +4, Knowledge (arcana) +4, Knowledge (religion) +4, Scry +5, Spellcraft +4; Skill Focus (Diplomacy), Extra Turning .
<11: Liatus> OK, got it.
* Karnak mutters to Meridius, "What're you thinking?"
* Silana nods to Meridius and goes to join the conversation in the corner, her expression still full of the resolve she'd shown when speaking to the kobolds about the goblins' fate.
<DM> The goblin crone continues to stand her ground and glares back at the kobolds. The intensity at about four feet off the ground is really something.
<Meridius> Is Liatus in on the conversation as well?
* Karnak would assume so, yes.
<DM> (I imagine Liatus will tune in once BA gets the skills sorted out.)
<11: Liatus> How many points can I put in Diplomacy to max it out?
<Meridius> "I don't find the idea of the kobolds making dinner out of those goblins any more pleasant than the rest of you, but if that goblin chieftain shows up and those prisoners are still here, there's a damn good likelihood that those prisoners will all develop little backbones and decide we'd be better off dead."
<Meridius> "So we need to get those goblins out of here, and the most expedient way to do that is to send them off with the kobolds."
<Liatus> (Pretend I'm poking at the junk pile atm)
<11: Karnak> 1.
<11: Karnak> That'd give you 5 ranks + 2 for focus + 1 for Cha.
<11: Liatus> Does that. That leaves 4 points.
<Meridius> "If you like, we can go with the kobolds and you <looks at Silana in particular> can try to make sure the goblins are treated well (not seasoned well, so to speak)."
* Karnak nods, pauses, "So Goblins aren't just animals?"
* 11: Liatus puts the last 4 points in Heal. We'll say I learned it from the gnome we picked up and I was a quick study.
* Karnak looks over his shoulder towards the goblins.
* Meridius says to Karnak, "Go talk to the old goblin lady over there and judge for yourself."
* 11: Karnak would suggest, actually, putting 2 in Concentration, too.
<11: Karnak> So 2 in Heal, 2 in Concetration and 1 in Diplomacy.
<11: DM> Yeah, I was going to suggest 2 in Concentration, 2 in Heal.
* Silana interjects, "As the kobolds said, we'll need to speak with their queen if we want to be certain of the goblins' fate."
<DM> The goblins and kobolds are doing a bit of circling back and forth. The kids and grandpas aren't about to charge the young adults with armor and weapons, of course.
<11: Liatus> OK
<Karnak> "I've read that some animals can talk and stuff. They're not to be trusted."
* Liatus speaks up. "Perhaps we could work out a deal. Let 10 or so volunteer to be the ritual feast and the others become slaves to the kobolds."
* Silana looks directly at Karnak. "And what are we humans, if not animals?"
* Meridius ouches at philosophy.
<Karnak> "We're humans."
<Meridius> "If you want to negotiate for the goblins' lives, that's fine, but we need to get them out of here right away."
* Liatus continues to poke at the junk as he talks. Especially the junk that looks like "tools and clothes marked with designs from the nearby village of Roburcollis."
* Silana nods in agreement with Meridius. "If we linger here, we'll have worse problems."
<Karnak> "And the kobolds seem trustworthy enough.
<DM> Liatus finds a saddle or two, some hoes and pitchforks, and a few wallets and bags.
<Meridius> "Lets move, then."
* Meridius breaks up the little chat and heads back toward the kobolds.
* Liatus holds up some of the clothing. "We need some of the goblins alive, to tell us where they got this and what happened to the people they got it from."
<Meridius> "Hold that thought, Liatus."
<DM> Meepo nods. "We keep one safe for you to question, sure."
* Liatus checks the wallets and bags for anything of value or use.
<DM> Youc an make a Search roll if you'd like.
<Meridius> "Lets get these goblins out of here. You kobolds take the lead. Liatus and Karnak, I want you up front with them as well. Silana and I will bring up the rear."
## Liatus rolled 1d20+2 = 17 (15).
<DM> Nothing that looks very valuable, alas. It has, to put it mildly, not been well-tended.
<Liatus> No clues about the people we're lookign for either, I take it.
* Meridius starts getting the goblins moving. "Up you lot, lets go!"
<DM> No, Liatus.
<DM> Meepo asks, "What you decide?"
<Meridius> "We're going to work that out when we see your queen, Meepo."
<Meepo> "Okay!" [DM]
* Meridius really doesn't want to have too much to do with the goblin preservation debate...
<DM> The kobolds flank the goblins and Meepo takes the lead in heading back out into the northern dragon hall, then through the small empty room and toward that hallway the kobolds guard.
* Karnak goes with Meepo, as instructed.
* Silana takes up her position in the procession, at the rear of the group with Meridius. Before setting out, she reloads her crossbow in case of surprises along the way.
* Meridius has a pilum handy.
<DM> The border passage runs around a corner, turning from west to south. Meepo unlocks the northern of the two locked doors and points out the trapdoor so that the goblins don't fall in. He opens the southern locked door and makes rather a show of ushering the prisoners into the southern temple hall. Since they have to go single-file on each side of the trap, this takes a little while.
<11: Liatus> You know, in hindsite, I rather do wish I'd played an archer of some sort.
<11: Meridius> Liagolas
* Liatus listens to see if we're being followed.
<DM> Roll away!
<11: Karnak> Pages are updated.
<11: Silana> Speaking of things ready, I know I'm down two L1 spells, from casting Mage Armor (which should still be running) and Magic Missile. I don't think I cast MM twice last week, but I might be mistaken. Anyone know without having to read the log for it?
## Liatus rolled 1d20+3 = 19 (16).
<11: DM> You cast just one.
<DM> Liatus, you hear one of the doors in that big warren room open after the last you march out. Quietly, but it's kind of squeaky. Whoever comes out is walking quietly too.
<11: Silana> Thanks. What I thought, but it's been a long week and I neglected to note it down like I should have.
<11: DM> No problem. :)
<11: Liatus> Now watch, it'll come time to do diplomacy rolls with the queen, and I'll get suck ass rolls that result in such great debate tactics as "Hey, baby" and "what's your sign?"
<DM> The guards at the southern locked door are pretty surprised by the parade, and one of them runs off down to the throne area. In short order Yusdrayl's personal guards are looking at the sight. "What this?"
<Karnak> "That's a matter of debate, at the moment."
<DM> Goblins mill around the temple hall, trying not to look too worried.
<Kobold Guard> "You come to great queen Yusdrayl immediately!" [DM]
-> *DM* I was at the back of the group during prisoner escort. Were the locked doors we passed through re-locked as we went?
*DM* Yes, whoever comes through last will have a copy of the key, and the kobolds want each door locked.
<11: Karnak> Hopefully, that won't happen.
<Meridius> When we reach Yusdrayl's hall I'm going to remain at the back of the group in general, partly to stay out of the debate's way, partly in expectation of a goblin assault.
<DM> He gestures down at the other end of the temple hall. "You bring many goblins here. They profane place for dragons and heirs."
<DM> Meepo looks around to see if any of the characters are accompanying him as he starts toward the throne.
* Karnak assumes we're shooing the golbins towards the throne?
<11: Meridius> "Perhaps these dental instruments will loosen your tongues. Bwahahahahaha!"
<DM> That's what Meepo's doing, at least.
* Liatus accompanies Meepo
* Once the entire group has entered the chamber, Silana will move to join Liatus at the front, to assist him in speaking with the Queen. If she can catch Karnak's eye, she'll gesture for him to go and join Meridius in keeping guard. [Silana]
<DM> 40-odd goblins take up a lot of space; the temple hall probably hasn't had this many in attendance in quite a while.
* Karnak shuffles to the back, looking a little morose.
<DM> He could jump around some to cheer up. :)
* Meridius whispers to Karnak, "Trust me, for this you're better off back here."
<DM> Finally Meepo draws up in front of the throne. Yusdrayl looks sternly at the scene. "This is a surprise. Surely," she says to Liatus and Silana, "THESE are not your missing friends."
* Karnak will actually slip back to the door leading to the golbins, and will listen at it?
<DM> Ah, not a bad idea. Make a roll.
* Liatus bows respectfully. "No, your highness. These are prisoners we have captured."
* Silana bows respectfully on approaching the throne, such as it is, but remains quiet, letting Liatus take the lead here.
<DM> Yusdrayl looks over the goblins again. "Many prisoners. But we do not keep cells."
<Liatus> Shall I make a diplomacy roll to see how well I come accross?
<DM> Probably wise, yes.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+8 = 13 (5).
<Liatus> Damn.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+6 = 14 (8).
<11: Saddam Liatus> "Heeeeeey, relax Queenie. Take a load off." [Liatus]
<DM> Karnak, you don't hear anything.
<11: DM> BA, :)
<DM> Yusdrayl asks Liatus, "What do you expect us to do with 'prisoners'? We struggle to feed our own, and there is much of this holy place we do not yet control. Why have you not yet spilled their blood on the ground?"
<11: Liatus> See, again, this is why I should've played a Barbarian.
<11: Karnak> I dunno, it's a good question.
<DM> Yusdrayl waits in obvious impatience for an answer.
* Liatus respectfully points out the additional room that our group has purged of goblin interlopers, as well as the fact that we will very likely clear out even more of the goblins before we leave.
* Karnak wanders back over to Meridius, "Maybe we should just let them all go?"
<DM> Yusdrayl says, "That is well. Dead goblins I understand. I like them. I do not understand _these_."
* Silana decides to speak up. "We have brought them here, so that you may choose their fate in your wisdom, Your Highness. It is within your realm that we found them, is it not?"
* Karnak whispers to Meridius, "And if we kill all the goblins, do we then have to kill all the kobolds?"
* Liatus furthermore respectfully suggests that perhaps the queen might wish to keep these goblins as her slaves, to serve as a reminder to all of her great might.
<DM> Yusdrayl nods at Silana. "That is so. And is my wish that my people eat heartier than has been their lot."
* Meridius whispers to Karnak, "That's a very good question. The answer to it must wait until we are out of this pit."
<DM> She says to Liatus, "I cannot care for slaves."
<Silana> "Could not the work of slaves help your people to be better fed for many years, as opposed to feasting well but once?"
<Liatus> Then perhaps her magisty would consent to allow these prisoners to remain here while we kill more goblins, so that we may take them with us and sell them as slaves when we leave.
<DM> Yusdrayl considers. "How long?"
<DM> Yusdrayl adds, "If you wish to make money from clearing our holy place, that is none of my concerns."
<11: Liatus> How big is this place anyway?
<11: DM> The hallway or the citadel overall?
<11: Liatus> Overall.
<DM> Yusdrayl ponders a moment. "There." She points at one of the doors along the north side of the temple. "That is our larder. If you can get your 'prisoners' in there, you may keep them there until you return."
* Liatus bows respectfully and thanks the queen for her gracious generousity.
* DM mavs.
<11: DM> The part you've gone through looks to be somewhere between 200 and 400 feet square. A good smallish castle size.
<11: Liatus> So, a week might be a good estimate?
<DM> Yusdrayl adds, "If you do not return in two days, we will have a great feast on your 'prisoners'."
<11: DM> Something of the sort, depending on how much more it there is.
* Liatus attempts to bargin, asking that if we do not return in 2 days, that only 5 of them be eaten. And another 5 each two days after that.
<DM> Make a separate Diplomacy roll for that. (And you can take 10 if you want to.)
<Liatus> Do I get my +8 on top of that 10?
<DM> Yup. Your standard result would therefore be 18. Or you can roll and try to better that.
* Liatus will just take the 18 for now.
<11: Meridius> Or you could take 20, but that would probably involve a foot massage. :)
<DM> Yusdrayl takes another survey of the prisoners. "All right. That is acceptable."
* Liatus nods and thanks her again.
* Liatus bows also.
* Karnak does some stretches and katas.
* Liatus begins herding the goblins to the larder.
* Silana bows as the negotiations conclude, and backs away respectfully.
<DM> Yusdrayl says, "If you sell your slaves, I want 25%. Stable fee," she adds with a harsh laugh.
* Karnak bounces over to the door leading to the golbins, and relights the lamp on the pole.
<Meridius> What time is it in game continuity?
<DM> I believe it's afternoon time.
* 11: Liatus wonders if this turn of events might enable us to pressgang the goblin crone into being our guide through the goblin controlled areas.
<11: DM> You could give it a shot, certainly.
<Karnak> "Are we going to go deal with the Chief now?"
<Meridius> "In a moment. Lets take lunch, first."
* Meridius leads the way back to our camp chamber, where he hopes Ercaius still is.
* Karnak moves quickly to the camp chamber then.
<Meridius> Some of us are down a few hit points as of the last encounter, IIRC, so we may want to healing done before we set back out.
* Liatus singles out the crone and points out to her that it is now in her best interest to see to it that we return promptly.
<DM> A few twists and turns, and you're back in the chamber where the dragon used to be. Ercaius is there, stretched out in a hammock he's slung.
* Karnak asides to Meridius, "Will the remaining goblins want to rescue their children and women, do you think?"
<DM> Ercaius stands up as you enter. "What news?"
<DM> OH, wait, I left something out...
<Meridius> "Perhaps."
* Meridius whispers to Karnak to prevent Meepo from hearing, "And such an event would not bother me in the least."
<DM> The kobolds opened up that door Yusdrayl indicated, and it proved to be a larder. Lots of meat hooks, some with rotting hunks of uncertain meet on them, fungus int he corners, the shells of giant insects and a few remains of dire rats. It is big enough to hold the goblins, though not comfortably, and they look very scared as the door closes on them. The kobold guards modify their march slightly to keep passing it.
* Meridius says to Ercaius, "We have delivered many goblin prisoners into the hands of the kobolds. We return here to take a meal, rest a bit and heal our wounds before continuing."
<DM> You can keep out the crone and anyone else you choose; any goblins you don't pull out are put in the larder.
* Liatus is going to try and negotiate with the crone to get her to provide us with a possible guide.
<DM> Roll again, then, or take 10 as you wish.
* Liatus takes the 18
<DM> The crone looks skeptical. "You want me to help you slay more of mine?"
* Liatus stresses that the fast we do our business here, the less likely the people with her will be eaten.
* Karnak nods, and cheerfully says, "Yep."
<Crone> "Being a slave may be better than being eaten...but I do not trust you any farther than I can throw you." She glares up at Liatus. "My brave men are dead because of you. You can find your own way." [DM]
* Liatus also stresses the points that a) the only ones who'll die are the ones who stand against us and b) the cheif may kill us and then at least whomever is our guide would get away.
<Crone> "Ha. 'Guide us. After all, we may not be very good at what we try.' No." [DM]
<Karnak> "We don't need her help, Liatus. We'll finish off the goblins on our own."
* Karnak finishes setting up his iron pot and makes stew for everyone.
<DM> Ercaius digs in rather gratefully.
<11: Meridius> Who is currently down some hit points? I'm down 2.
* Liatus shrugs. "As you wish. Of course, if we find a suitable second camp, then we'll have no reason to return here any time soon." And with that, I motion for the kobolds to stick her back in the larder.
<11: Karnak> From my review of the log, I'm okay.
<11: Meridius> I think Silana and I are the only ones injured, but I'm not 100% sure.
<DM> The kobolds hustle her off.
* Liatus also makes a note to ask the kobolds to make sure that she's among the last batch they take to eat, just so she can sit and watch them go.
<DM> Ercaius says "if you wish, I can heal you before you rest".
<Liatus> That would be welcome.
<DM> One of the kobold guards hears Liatus' message and promises that the queen will get it.
<DM> Ercaius calls upon the gnome gods to heal his rescuers. Meridius gains...
## DM rolled 1d8+2 = 8 (6).
<11: Liatus> I don't think she quite grasps the fact of how weak her negotiating possition was.
* Silana nods to the gnome. "Please." The gash in her side is still a bit painful, though it did not bleed for long.
<DM> ...all the hit points he needs and then some. :) Silana gains...
## DM rolled 1d8+2 = 8 (6).
<DM> ...likewise.
* Liatus can't recall if he was injured or not.
<11: DM> It was more a matter of not feeling that cooperation would gain her anything, so what the heck.
<DM> Liatus is full up, and so (I believe) is Karnak.
<11: Meridius> I'd rather have Meepo as a guide, anyway.
* Silana smiles at Ercaius. "Thank you."
<11: Liatus> She's never negotiated with the likes of me.
<11: Karnak> I think we were negotiating a "you can die quickly, or you can die slowly. It's up to you."
<DM> Ercaius bows. "It is a pleasure, milady."
<Karnak> "So, should we go through the door here, to confuse the goblins again?"
<Meridius> After healing, eating and a bit of rest, we'll set out again.
* Karnak points to the door in the corner of the room.
* Meridius also thanks Ercaius.
<11: Liatus> Actually, I'd been planning to just let them go once we got a fair distance from the citidel. I mean, it's not like there's a market for goblin slaves or anything.
<Meridius> "Yes, Karnak."
<DM> Ercaius bows at Meridius as well.
<DM> Okay, about how long is going by for your rest time? In particular, are you taking the time for folks to gain back spells?
<11: Liatus> Now, I'm honestly in no hurry to get back to the kobold area on any particular deadline. 2 days or 2 weeks, no nevermind to me.
<Karnak> Liatus only gets spells back once every 24 hours, so I dunno if we want to wait that long.
<Liatus> I don't think I've used any today.
<DM> I was thinking particularly of Silana.
* Silana frowns as she looks at her torn and bloodied tunic. "Excuse me, I shall be but a moment." And she slips into the side room where we'd been stashing our extra belongings.
* Liatus cleans and sharpens his sword, treating it with the revernce one gives to a holy weapon and symbol of the empire's might.
<11: Karnak> I think Silana's got enough spells left for us to continue the adventure right now?
* Liatus then enjoys a light lunch of good wine and whatever's tasty among our provisions.
<11: DM> I'm not trying to say "rest, you fools" or anything like that. I just want to make sure that the question got raised.
* Silana returns a few minutes later wearing a fresh tunic, and carrying the one she'd been wearing. A Mending spell will take care of the tear made by the goblin's javelin at some later point, but she takes a moment to rinse away the blood with a bit of water.
* Karnak does some more stretches.
<11: DM> "Rest, you fools!" [Liatus]
<DM> So right now everyone is fed and reasonably composed. Liatus is at full spell capacity and Silana still has some tricks up her sleeve. :)
<Karnak> "Let's go!"
<DM> On your way, then, unless there's anything else to take care of first.
* Meridius takes the lead.
* Karnak will join Meridius, with the lamp pole.
<Meridius> We'll go through the door that'll take us past the dragon fountain this time.
* Liatus makes sure that Meepo is with us.
<DM> Meepo is indeed with you.
<DM> Okay, so, through that twisting hallway, through a deserted room, and on into the room with the dragon fountain and the chilly door.
* Karnak looks longingly at the dragon fountain and the door, then back at Liatus, "I bet there's a trick to this."
* Liatus nods and inspects the fountain again.
<DM> Up where Karnak chocked some doors shut, you can hear dire rats scrabbling in an effort to get out. Clearly without much success.
<DM> The fountain, we established previously, is carved with the figure of a dragon whose head points down into the now-empty basin. The Draconic for "let there be fire" is written on the front of the basin, almost warn away.
<Liatus> What is everyone else doing?
* Meridius makes a quick trip up to the blocked doors to check on Karnak's work pinning down the dire rats, then returns to the dragon fountain room.
<DM> The door o the other side of the room is carved with the figures of skeletal dragons, and radiates cold when you're within a foot of it. It's locked. An inscription on the mantel says "channel good, open the way".
<Karnak> "If we say the words in draconic, I bet something would happen."
<Meridius> I assume folks are re-examining the fountain, door and such.
<DM> Meridius, you find all the doors still shut tight. If any blocks are at all loose, it's a moment's effort to re-seat them.
* Liatus is going to test the fountain, but first requests that everyone move out of the room first, in case its a trap.
<Meridius> Hold a moment.
<11: Meridius> I'm laggy.
<DM> You can move back into the empty chamber and have a door in the way, or up to the crossroads where a door leads to another empty chamber.
<11: DM> We'll type slow. :)
* Silana walks over to the cold door, and looks at it carefully from a couple feet away.
<Meridius> "Lets not test the fountain just yet."
* Meridius asks Meepo, "Is your dragon a fire-breather?"
<11: DM> I'm having intermittent lag as well, actually. If I seem unresponsive, expect me to catch up in a spurt.
<DM> Meepo shakes his head. "Calcryx dragon from far north. Filled with cold."
<Meridius> "Then it's unlikely Calcryx would be imprisoned behind that door <points at the cold door>?"
<DM> Meepo touches the door lightly. "Calcryx could make it this cold But Calcryx not lock himself in, I don't think."
<11: Silana> Okay, there, I was lagged to the point of stuff I'd typed taking over a minute to appear.
<Liatus> "Maybe the goblins locked him in?"
<Meridius> "Okay, lets everyone back out of the room and we'll test the flaming fountain theory."
<DM> Meep thinks. "Maybe."
* Meridius keeps any other thoughts he has to himself.
* Karnak is willing to do as Meridius suggests.
* Liatus waits for everyone to be through the doorway.
<DM> Everyone's through, I think.
* Silana nods, and leaves the room as requested.
<Meridius> Lets all back out of the room through the door we came in, so as to stay together in case something catastrophic happens, and avoid getting trapped on the far side.
* Liatus nods
<DM> Okay, Liatus, you've got the room to yourself now.
* 11: DM checks BA's pulse. :)
* Liatus stands in the doorway and speaks in Draconic, saying "Let there be fire."
<11: Meridius> I'm getting 80%+ packet loss when pinging windlord.eyrie.org. Looks like Stanford's internal routers are tossing cookies.
<DM> The eyes of the dragon glow a faint red, and smoke comes out of the dragon's mouth. A trickle of some thick red liquid, unfamiliar to you, flows down into the basin. After a few ounces of this come out, there's an abrupt cracking sound and the dragon's head breaks in several places. The flow stops, leaving the red liquid to slosh around in the basin.
* Liatus raises an eyebrow.
<Liatus> "That was ... unexpected."
<DM> Oh, and the red glow fades after the cracks.
* Liatus inches forward to inspect the fountain again.
* Silana peeks in around the edge of the doorway. "It probably hadn't been activated in a long time."
<DM> Through the cracks, you can see that there used to be a reservoir in the wall. You got the very last of what was in it.
* 11: Karnak wouldn't be surprised if the net is experiencing blowback from the worm last night.
* Karnak scoots into the room, and peers at the liquid? in the fountain.
<11: Meridius> I don't think that's it. The route to Stanford is healthy. Stanford's routers are goofy, which had been routine for awhile some time back.
<DM> It is indeed a liquid of some sort. It continues to glow very faintly.
* Liatus attempts to identify the liquid without touching it.
<Meridius> "Where's that flask we recovered?"
<DM> It's nothing you immediately recognize, Liatus. The conclusion "it's magical" is an obvious one, of course.
* Liatus holds up the flask.
<Meridius> "If the liquid is safe to handle, we should store it in the flask."
<Meridius> "Silana, can you make anything of it?"
* Silana walks over to look at it.
<DM> It's not obviously familiar to her, either.
<11: Silana> Knowledge: Arcana roll?
<11: DM> Sure. And Liatus can do the same.
## Silana rolled 1d20+4 = 14 (10).
<DM> I'm asusming Silana had already figured out "This might be a potion!"
<11: Silana> Well, yes, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna taste it. :)
<Liatus> But my goblin whiskey is already in the flask.
* Karnak dips his finger in and tastes the liquid.
<Meridius> "Sacrifices must be made from time-to-time, Liatus."
<11: Seamus O'Gobbo> "An' a right treasure it is, boyo." [Silana]
<DM> It's very oily, and doesn't otherwise have much taste. You notice that your breath is coming out unusually warm, though.
<DM> Not painful or uncomfortable to you inside, just very warm out in front of your face.
* Liatus wonders what would happen if we put some on the cold door.
* Karnak ponders.
* Karnak takes a goodly drink of the liquid and then will turn and spit on the cold door?
<DM> You can give it a try, certainly, if you want to.
<DM> Liatus, going to stop Karnak?
<Karnak> I'm trying it.
* Liatus decides not to.
* Liatus is too busy making an Arcana roll
<11: Meridius> Haru Karnak: Enthusiastic Guinea Pig
* Silana blinks at Karnak The Impetuous, and steps back.
<DM> Karnak manages to down about a third of the potion. Then he spits on the door, and emits a big blast of flame. Nobody's injured by it, but you're all warmed up very nicely. The door itself is...just a sec while I check.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+6 = 21 (15).
* 11: Karnak hehs, "Well, I've got more hit points than I did the first time, so ..."
<Karnak> "Whoa."
<DM> Jason, roll 3d6 to see how much damage you deliver to the door.
<DM> Liatus, your keen analytical mind tells you that this is most likely a potion of fire breath.
## Karnak rolled 3d6 = 9 (6 1 2).
<DM> The door remains chilly and sealed.
* Karnak rubs his lips, "Darn."
<Meridius> "Care for another draught, Karnak?"
<DM> Looks like there's two more glugs that size remaining.
<Karnak> "It didn't even melt the door. I guess that's not the trick."
<Karnak> "We should probably that that stuff along with us, though. Might be handy against the goblins."
<Meridius> "No, I think you're on to something. Try again."
* Karnak gives Meridius a look, waits a beat, then shrugs and drinks another draught of the potion. He moves closer to the chilly door this time, and really horks on it.
<DM> Roll another 3d6.
## Karnak rolled 3d6 = 8 (1 3 4).
* Karnak snickers.
<DM> The door never even warmed up, you're close enough to notice.
* Karnak coughs a lot, "I feel a bit light-headed." He sits down on the floor.
<Karnak> "I don't *cough* think the door was even bothered by the flame."
* Meridius looks puzzled.
<Liatus> Can I make an Arcana roll to try and figure out the door?
<DM> Yes, you can.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+6 = 22 (16).
<11: Karnak> BA is en fuego today.
<11: DM> I've whispered an insight to him.
* 11: Meridius wonders what would happen if Liatus drank both the remaining fire breath potion and the flask full of goblin liquor... :)
<11: DM> John Belushi goes dungeoneering.
* Liatus takes out his Imperial Seal and brandishes it at the door, calling upon the power of the Imperial Presence and commanding the door to open.
<DM> Okay, roll 1d20 + your Charisma modifier.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+1 = 18 (17).
<DM> Man, this is the Liatus Show day, apparently.
<11: Karnak> The worm turns.
<DM> Now roll 2d6 + level + Charisma mod.
<DM> To see how many HD's equivalent of undead you turn.
<DM> (With that first roll, we've established that they can be up to 4th level.)
## Liatus rolled 2d6+3 = 9 (4 2).
<DM> There's a sharp click and the door unlocks and swings inward.
* Karnak looks at Liatus, "Impressive."
* Liatus puts his hand on his sword handle, ready to draw if needed.
<DM> On the far side is a dusty, cobwebby chamber, lit by a single candle.
* Karnak gets to his feet.
<Karnak> "Hello?"
<Karnak> Is anyone in the room?
* Liatus continues brandishing the Imperial Seal.
<DM> Inside there are five stone sarcophagi - two to the left, three to the right - carved with figures of unfamiliar creatures, somewhat elf-like. Some small objects lie on the same table as the candle.
<DM> Nothing stirs.
* Silana moves closer. "Nicely done," she says to Liatus.
<Karnak> "It's a tomb..."
* Karnak will step inside, if no one prevents him.
<DM> Liatus gets 150 XP for defusing the traps in the door.
* Liatus stops Karnak
<Liatus> Can I make an Arcana or Religion roll to identify the tomb, whats in it or the religion involved?
<DM> Certainly. Whichever you'd like.
<Liatus> Can I make one of each?
* Meridius will remain outside the room, on guard for potential threats.
<DM> No, one or the other.
* Liatus goes for Arcana.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+6 = 25 (19).
* Karnak is trying to get a good look at the room from outside it.
<DM> The figures carved on the sarcophagi fit with stories you've heard about a population of elves that tried to magically transform themselves into something more like dragons. In the end they all got wiped out. Makes some sense that they'd be here in the midst of dragon worshippers.
<DM> Karnak, you can see that the dust is thick and undisturbed. Nobody's been in here in ages. Make a Spot roll, too.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+2 = 9 (7).
<DM> Nothing else comes to hand. It's hard to make out what's on the little shrine down at the far end, apart from the candle.
* Liatus slowly enters the tomb, still brandishing the Imperial Seal.
* Karnak will follow, wanting to head for that shrine.
<DM> As you cross the threshold, the sarcophagi creak open, and skeletons begin to shamble out. You can make a fresh effort to turn these.
* Liatus does so
<DM> First you roll 1d20 + Cha mod to find out the maximum level you affect, than 2d6 + Cha mod + level to see how many HD total you affect.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+1 = 7 (6).
<Liatus> Crap
<DM> Now the number of HD.
## Liatus rolled 2d6+3 = 6 (1 2).
<DM> You are lucky that these are first-level skeletons. :) Even your relatively weak effort is enough to send them cowering toward the back of the sanctuary, as far away from you as they can get.
<Karnak> Towards the shrine?
<DM> Yup.
* Karnak steps back from the skeletons, "The dead walk again!"
* Liatus calls for Meridius to help him as he moves further into the tomb, still keeping them at bay.
<Karnak> How many skeletons in total?
<DM> (By the way, Liatus knows from experience that if he gets within 10' of them and they have no way out, they overcome the effect of turning. But while they cower, anyone else attacking them gets a +2 bonus.)
<DM> Five.
* Liatus makes sure to stay 11' away from them.
<DM> (From experience or from training, at least.)
* Silana watches nervously from the doorway, her grip tightening on her staff.
* Karnak folds back the cuffs of his sleeves... then gets an idea. He runs back to the fountain, and drinks the last of the potion.
* Meridius enters the room, putting away his pilum and looking to make with fisticuffs.
<DM> We should probably determine initiatve at this point.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+4 = 16 (12).
## Karnak rolled 1d20+2 = 14 (12).
<Meridius> There's mine.
## DM rolled 1d20+5 = 21 (16).
## Liatus rolled 1d20+1 = 12 (11).
<DM> The skeletons can act fast, but don't get to initiate anything.
<11: Meridius> Testify!
* Liatus yells for Karnak to get a rock.
## Silana rolled 1d20+2 = 3 (1).
<11: Karnak> Meridius is up.
* 11: Silana gives Liatus back his dice. ;)
* Meridius rushes one of the skeletons, smashing it with his shield.
<DM> Righto. :)
## Meridius rolled 1d20+4 = 20 (16).
<DM> That's a good solid hit.
## Meridius rolled 1d4+2 = 3 (1).
<11: Silana> Or not.
<11: Karnak> Karnak's up.
<DM> And that breaks off some loose bones, thoug the thing is still intact.
* Karnak runs back to the fountain and drinks that potion.
<DM> 20' from door to fountain.
<Karnak> Yeah, but it's an action to down the potion, so next turn will be when I get to breath.
<11: Karnak> Liatus is a go.
<DM> Right.
* Liatus continues to repell the skeletons.
<DM> They continue to be repelled.
<11: Liatus> Yes, fear my Imperial BO.
<11: Karnak> Silana is a go.
<DM> Silana, you have a good line of sight if you'd like to shoot a skeleton not already being struck by Meridius' shield.
* Silana sets her staff aside, raises her crossbow from its sling, and fires.
## Silana rolled 1d20+3 = 14 (11).
<DM> That's a hit.
<Karnak> (don't forget the +2 from them cowering)
## Silana rolled 1d8 = 3 (3).
<DM> You do half normal damage, what with it being all bony and stuff.
<11: Meridius> I forgot to use the +2 in my attack roll earlier. :)
<11: Karnak> Skeletons.
<DM> So you knock loose some pieces, but it's still carrying on. Or at least it would if it weren't busy cowering.
<11: Karnak> (Round 2)
<DM> The skeletons are unable to act.
<11: Karnak> Meridius, then.
<DM> Remember your +2, Chris. :)
<Meridius> I'm going to punch the same skeleton I shield-smashed earlier with my gauntleted fist.
<DM> Right.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+6 = 17 (11).
<DM> That's another good hit.
## Meridius rolled 1d3+2 = 5 (3).
<DM> You hit just right; the skeleton is still standing, sort of, but it's very near the point of collapse.
<Meridius> Cool.
<11: Karnak> Karnak.
* Karnak runs back into the room, and sprays firey breath onto the skeletons (except, possibly, the one fighting Meridius, since he doesn't want to also burn Meridius)
<DM> You can only spray at one target, alas.
<Karnak> Really?
<DM> Yup.
<Karnak> Dang. Well, then I spray one of the skeletons.
## Karnak rolled 3d6 = 13 (6 4 3).
<DM> Righto. It gets a Reflex save to try to dodge...
## DM rolled 1d20 = 3 (3).
<DM> ...but is obviously confounded by Liatus' power.
<11: Karnak> Liatus is up, now. :)
<DM> That skeleton collapses in a heap of charred bones no longer held together by much of anything.
<DM> Liatus presumably keeps the skeletons trapped.
<11: Karnak> Then Silana.
* Silana scowls, seeing how ineffective her shot was. "This is a waste of bolts I'll need later." Lowering her bow, she takes up her staff again and enters the room, sidling around for a vantage point, and takes a smash at one of the creatures.
<DM> You can do this thing. Roll your attack.
## Silana rolled 1d20+2 = 16 (14).
<DM> That's a hit.
## Silana rolled 1d6-1 = 2 (3).
<DM> And you've put some beating into that skeleton, whose collarbone will never be the same.
<11: Liatus> Had to answer the phone, sorry.
<11: Karnak> Back around to cowering skeletons, then Meridius.
<DM> The skeletons remain turned at the start of the next turn. One is destroyed, the one Meridius is fighting is about to be, and two have minor damage.
<Meridius> I punch the same skeleton again.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+6 = 13 (7).
<DM> Righto.
<DM> That hits.
## Meridius rolled 1d3+2 = 5 (3).
<11: Karnak> Karnak's turn.
<DM> And down it goes, in a clatter of bones. Three left.
<Meridius> Can I Cleave?
<11: Karnak> (after the cleave)
<11: Liatus> Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.
<DM> Not with your fist, I don't think, but let me check.
<DM> My mistake. Yes, you can.
<DM> So you can attack the next nearest skeleton.
<Meridius> Can I shield-smash as a followup attack?
<Karnak> Has to be with the original weapon (your fist in this case)
<Meridius> That's fine.
<DM> As Jason says.
<Meridius> I'll punch the next-nearest skeleton.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+6 = 16 (10).
<DM> That's another hit.
## Meridius rolled 1d3+2 = 4 (2).
<11: Liatus> Or hit like a sledgehammer.
<DM> And it's looking significantly the worse for wear.
<DM> Now Karnak.
* Karnak unleashes a torrent of snap punchs, kicks, elbows and foreheads in a whirling display of furry, "Ah! Back to the crypt with you all, foul undead!" (I'm using Flurry of Blows on the skeleton Meridius just wounded. Is it possible to manuever to get a flank bonus against it?)
<DM> Yes, it is.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+3 = 22 (19).
## Karnak rolled 1d20+3 = 13 (10).
## Karnak rolled 1d6 = 4 (4).
## Karnak rolled 1d6 = 4 (4).
<11: Silana> "A display of furry?" :)
<Karnak> So 8 hp total on it.
<11: Karnak> Fury, furry... there that same thing. :)
<DM> That's enough to shatter it as well!
<DM> Three skeletons down, two remaining, both with some injury. Silana, your turn.
* Silana takes another whack at the one she hit last time.
## Silana rolled 1d20+2 = 11 (9).
* Karnak shakes the bone dust from his shirt.
<Silana> And misses.
<DM> Remember your +2 for their cowering.
<Silana> I did.
<DM> Ah, okay.
<DM> At the start of the next turn, the two remaining skeletons cower further. This isn't at all the sort of immortal duty they were expecting.
<DM> Meridius, you're up.
* Liatus continues to rebuke the skeletons in the name of the Emperor.
<11: Karnak> At least Karnak kicks butt against cowering, helpless skeletons.
<Meridius> I'll shield-smash the next-nearest skeleton.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+6 = 23 (17).
<DM> That's a hit, that is.
## Meridius rolled 1d4+2 = 5 (3).
<11: Karnak> (thinks this was clearly the 'spotlight on Liatus' episode...)
<DM> And it's quite a bit mashed up.
<DM> Karnak, your turn.
* Karnak will flip up and try to crash down on top of the skeleton Meridius is fighting.
<DM> Sounds good.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+7 = 20 (13).
<Karnak> That's the tumble.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+3 = 10 (7).
<11: Silana> . o O ( Sure, help the big guy in the armor. I'll just keep flailing over here. )
<Karnak> And that's the attack, whoops.
<DM> Oh, are we back to this again with Karnak? :)
<DM> Liatus, I assume you continue to make it possible for everyone else to do their bit.
<Liatus> Yes
<DM> Silana, your turn.
* Karnak balances on top of the skeletons shoulders, whacking at it's head (for no really effect) going, "Yaaah! Yaah!"
* Silana tries again, looking angry and frustrated.
## Silana rolled 1d20+2 = 17 (15).
<DM> Another good hit.
## Silana rolled 1d6-1 = 4 (5).
<DM> And that suffices to break apart hte skeleton you've been fighting, Silana.
<DM> There is now one left.
* Silana grins grimly. "There, take that!"
<DM> Meridius, you get first crack at it. And you get +2 because Karnak is flanking it.
<Karnak> (or riding it, as the case may be)
## Meridius rolled 1d20+8 = 9 (1).
<Meridius> The accursed +2, evidently.
* Karnak expect Meridius is laughing too hard to get in a good attack. ;)
<DM> Okay, Karnak, let's see if you can do any better.
* Karnak will unleash another flurry of blows on the skeleton, using lost techniques of bone breaking.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+3 = 18 (15).
## Karnak rolled 1d20+3 = 10 (7).
## Karnak rolled 1d6 = 4 (4).
<DM> That's enough to pull its head off, and the rest goes down when you do that.
<Karnak> (+2 from cower, +2 from flank, -2 from flurry)
<DM> So the final skeleton is destroyed.
* Silana kicks the skull of the one she took down. "Disgusting things..."
* Liatus stops his "In the name of the empire, you suck" speach.
<DM> Resting on the shrine along with that candle (which remained lit throughout the fray), there's a potion and a small glass whistle. Meridius, you see that it has the dwarvish word for "Night Caller" engaged into it.
<DM> And folks may search.
* Liatus begins looking around
## Liatus rolled 1d20+2 = 19 (17).
* Karnak will examine the potion.
* Meridius will make a Search pass, then exit the room to guard, while telling folks about the whistle.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+2 = 14 (12).
<DM> It's a clear liquid with a hint of red in it, Karnak.
* Silana searches, poking around in the dust with the butt of her staff.
## Silana rolled 1d20+1 = 18 (17).
* Karnak will take the potion and the glass whistle, then. And the candle, which is clearly magical as well.
<DM> Liatus, you notice that the candle isn't actually consuming any of itself. It's just burning there.
* Liatus makes an Arcana roll to identify it.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+6 = 26 (20).
<11: Karnak> Jeeper.s
<DM> You've heard of ever-burning candles, but haven't ever seen one in person before.
* 11: Karnak has to go in 20 minutes or so.
<11: DM> Righto.
* Liatus tells Karnak and Silana that the candle will probably be useful.
* Liatus also searches the tombs for anything useful.
<DM> It's not putting out any noticeable heat, but it is a good steady light source.
<DM> There's nothing much left. The robes the skeletons were wrapped in were pretty crumbly before the fight and pretty tattered afterward.
* Karnak will leave the tomb with the three items (since Karnak's not good as a searcher) and will show the potion to Meridius.
<DM> That's 500 XP to divide among you.
<Karnak> (125 each, then)
<DM> There are, by the way, no other exits from the tomb.
* Liatus also confers with Meridius. "Which way now?"
<DM> The tomb door remains open, and is at room temperature, though you can feel it chilling slightly.
<DM> North of you, the hallway continues to a crossroads. East from there is rubble and blockage. North is the cells that Karnak blocked previously. West is a short passage, an empty room, and the first of those goblin barricade rooms, the one with the wall Meridius pulled down.
<Karnak> "We should go face the goblins."
* Liatus is in favor of the goblins unless Meridius has a better suggestion
<Karnak> "I could sneak down the hall and see if they've repaired the wall?"
<11: Meridius> Why don't we exit the crypt, shut the door and then pause the game here?
<11: DM> That sounds good to me.
<11: Karnak> Sounds good to me, sure.
<11: DM> Any of the next opportunities for encounters would run us past Jason's time limit, and I'm a little tired myself.
* 11: Silana nods. Not enough time to really get into something new.
<11: Karnak> The website's updated with treasure and xps.
<DM> Well, that was interesting. BA, I hope Liatus enjoyed his spotlight sesson.
<Meridius> Good action, today.
<Karnak> Yeah, I had fun! And Karnak actually hit something. A cowering skeleton from behind, but hey!
* Karnak takes off though. Thanks guys!
*** Signoff: Karnak (EOF from client) at Sat Jan 25 3:46 PM PST.
* Liatus whines. "But I didn't get to kill anything!"
* DM laughs.
<DM> C'mon, you sent five skeletons and however many goblins to their deaths. Take managerial credit. :)
<Liatus> I knew I should've killed that goblin bitch.
*** DM is now known as Bruce.
*** Meridius is now known as iChris.
<iChris> Dealing with those skeletons would've been a helluva lot less pleasant without Liatus' contribution.
<Bruce> Yup.
* Liatus whines. "But I didn't get to kill anything!"
<Bruce> BA, I believe we can fix that deficiency next session.
<Liatus> Yay
* Liatus wants to collect some goblin heads and bring them back for the crone.
<Bruce> You'll probably get an opportunity to do that, too.
<Bruce> As always, folks, thanks very much for playing.
<Silana> Thank you for running. :)
<Bruce> Dan, I sort of felt like Silana got the short end of the stick this time. Sorry about that.
* Silana shrugs. We had the Last Action Sorceress ep a couple weeks ago. ;)
<Bruce> If anyone does actually get to a point of feeling bored, let me know on the side and I'll see what I can do about it.
* Liatus stuts down this version of CalCli
<Liatus> ./whisper Bruce Give us some dancing girls.
<Liatus> Show us your lady-things! [Bruce]
<Silana> It's normal for a game of any kind. There are going to be sessions where one player or another has less to do.
<Bruce> Oh, true, true.
<Bruce> Part of what I'm learning as I go here is what sorts of challenge create what sorts of opportunity.
<Silana> It's when it's the same person getting slighted all the time that's a problem. And that's certainly not the case here.
<Bruce> Okay, if you don't feel left hanging all the time, that's a good sign. :)
<Bruce> It's interesting to compare the two groups. You guys are going about things _very_ differently.
<Bruce> Neither better or worse, mind. Just really different.
<Liatus> What have they been doing?
<Bruce> They went in through the west way, detected and left alone the big room of goblin kin, and ended up coming through the two barrier rooms from the other side.
* Liatus nods
<Bruce> And the all-elf party found a storeroom with, among other things, several barrels labeled "elf pudding". They were not amused.
* Silana laughs.
<Liatus> heh
<Bruce> Oh, they also got off to a rather different start. One of the characters in that party is an engineer, and fell into plannng with town leaders about a new bridge across the Cataract River gorge. Their quest is partly to show the locals that they are of good character, and partly to get some dough, if they can.
<Bruce> However, Ralph's monk performs a _lot_ like Jason's. Staggering Tumble successes followed by wiffed strikes.
<iChris> Okay, I'm parting for elsechannel. Thanks for the game. See y'all around...
