The Sunless Citadel, Session 8

Participants

What follows derives from my (Chris Carter's) log. I've removed extraneous server messages and some instances of whisper, though others may be left in for context. Entries marked with "11" are from the OOC chatter channel.

<Jason> So we're back in the dragon cage room.
<Bruce> Right.
<iChris> Resting up from much dire rat slayage.
* Jason nods.
<Jason> Damn, I've lost our map. :/
<Bruce> I should scan in the one in the module and just mark out the parts you haven't been to yet. :)
<Jason> That might work. :)
* Jason reviews Session 2, and catches what has been niggling at him.
<iChris> The erase tool in Photoshop ought to come in handy. :)
<iChris> What's the niggle?
<Jason> We keep assuming we have to go directly onto the goblins, but there's that other door in the tower we never bothered to check out.
<Jason> Remember, there was a 7:00 and an 11:00 door, and we picked the 11:00 door.
<iChris> Ah.
<Jason> But there were goblins in the tower... so maybe they'd come through the 7:00 door.
<Jason> Since from what we can tell, the kobolds have locked or blocked the other routes through.
*** Jason is now known as Karnak.
<Karnak> Or, to put it IC: "What if the goblins are slipping all the way around the kobolds, and using that other tower door." :)
<11: Karnak> We also need to figure out what the two potions we have are.
*** iChris is now known as Meridius.
<11: Karnak> I'm going to disappear in a bit to eat lunch, then return.
<11: Bruce> Ah, okay. Hopefully Dan will arrive too.
*** BAgame has joined channel 10 [Saturday D&D].
*** BAgame has joined channel 11 [Saturday D&D Chatter].
*** BAgame is now known as Liatus.
<Meridius> Kira is doing that thing of perching on the game book I'd be most likely to want to use during the game I happen to be playing. :)
<Bruce> But of course. :)
* Liatus tries to find the table for level advencement and EPs.
* Liatus grumbles at the lack of a useful index in the PG.
<Bruce> PHB, p. 22.
<Bruce> The index is iffy, but the table of contents is very comprehensive.
<Liatus> danke
<Karnak> 3,000 xp for 3rd, right?
<Bruce> Yup.
<Bruce> Very simple progression: 1000 to get to 1st level, another 2000 to get to 2nd, and so on. :)
<Karnak> Basically you need your current level x 1000 xp to level.
<Liatus> Yes. I was hoping it was 2K so I'd make 3rd lvl this session.
*** Silana has joined channel 11 [Saturday D&D Chatter].
*** Silana has joined channel 10 [Saturday D&D].
*** Bruce is now known as DM.
*** Liatus is now known as The.Incredible.Liatus.
* Karnak taps the microphone, "Is this on."
<DM> All right, we left the PCs back in the room where Meepo used to keep Calcryx, with mementos of Karakas. Meridius modifies some of his armor to help out Ercaius. I forget whether folks were planning on resting long enough to regain spells or not.
* Karnak repeats his earlier observation, "We never explored the other door out of the tower room. Maybe its a back way into the goblin territory. We found goblins in that room, and they probably did come from all the way through the kobolds."
<11: Karnak> I suspect that crafting the armor would take a while.
<11: Karnak> Like a day or so. Turning it from medium to small?
<11: DM> Just cutting down the coat, I think.
*** The.Incredible.Liatus is now known as Liatus.
<DM> So while you decide about resting, you can also decide what if anything to do about Karnak's observation.
<BA> I wanna kill something, damn it. [Liatus]
<DM> Well, if you go back into goblin country, you can count on finding some goblins to kill. To the south lies *da dum* mystery!
<Karnak> "Well, as I see it, we can either go into goblin country through the door out of the throne room, we can go through the parapets, or we can see if this other door is a backdoor into goblin land.
* Liatus is in favor of checking out the goblin door. If nothing else, I can bring the chief's head back on a stick to give to that mouthy crone.
<DM> :)
<DM> Meepo comments, once he figures out what you're talking about, "South is closed hall. Not know what goes there; kobolds no get in."
<11: Liatus> In addition, I'd like to see if we can make it to 3rd lvl before checking out the *da dum* mystery.
<11: Liatus> You know, we really need a map.
<Meridius> "If we eliminate the remaining goblins now there'll be less threat at our backs when we move into unknown territory."
<11: DM> I'll hook up the scanner and get you a map.
* Karnak asks Meepo, "So the kobolds have never gone through that tower door?"
* Silana nods. "I agree with Meridius. Leaving a threat behind us would be foolish."
<DM> Meepo shakes his head. "Not that Meepo knows of."
<Karnak> "Okay.
* Karnak checks his pack, "I'm running a bit low on food... maybe a couple days left."
<Meepo> "We could make feast for you!" [DM]
* Silana looks slightly ill as she saye to Meepo, "Um, no thank you."
<Liatus> "Perhaps later."
<Karnak> "Oh?"
<Karnak> "That's reassuring. Thank you, Meepo."
* Karnak stores his gear, and does some stretches, "So should we get moving, then?"
<DM> Meepo nods. "What expected. But good to offer! Good hosts!"
<11: Liatus> See how Liatus is all diplomatic 'n shit
<11: Karnak> Send me the map, and I'll like it to the page, Bruce.
<11: Liatus> Don't do it, Bruce. It's a trap. Remember what happened to Indy when he fell for the "throw me the map" line.
* 11: Karnak grins.
<11: DM> :)
* Karnak looks at Meridius. "So do we go through the throne room? I bet the Queen would like to see us again."
<Liatus> "No, I think I'd like to wait a day or two before going back."
<Meridius> "If I recall correctly we should be able to get to the remaining goblins via the path that took us by the cold door and the dragon fountain."
* Liatus nods to Meridius.
*** Maya has joined channel 10 [Saturday D&D].
*** Maya has joined channel 11 [Saturday D&D Chatter].
<Karnak> "That's where I jumped the walls and stuff, so yes.
<DM> Yup.
<11: Meridius> So this is the start of Day 3?
<11: Karnak> I think this is the third day, yes.
<11: Karnak> We've rested twice, I believe.
<11: Silana> Yes.
* Karnak gets set to follow Meridius.
<Liatus> Have we outfitted the gnome guy?
<11: DM> i'll have that map ready in just a sec.
<Meridius> Ercaius now has studded leather armor sized to fit him. We might want to give him a couple of the daggers taken off Karakas' body as well. Not sure about other weapons. (A goblin javelin, maybe?)
<Karnak> We're taking him with us?
* Karnak ponders the horrors of the xp math that will result.
<Liatus> He and Meepo can guard the rear during battle.
<Meridius> We could just continue dividing the XP by four and then Bruce could give Ercaius separate XP.
<Karnak> Ercaius would get a 1/2 share of our XP.
<11: DM> Map coming right up.
<Liatus> Why?
<Karnak> He'd be acting as an NPC member of the group.
<Liatus> And this differs from Meepo how?
<DM> http://www.baugh.info/citadel1.jpg
<Karnak> Has Meepo fought or cast a spell to help us yet?
<11: Silana> Buca del Meepo <== NOT somewhere I'm going to eat while at Origins. :)
<DM> Meepo hasn't been contributing anything in challenges, but Ercaius has. According to the module, I should be giving Ercaius an equal share when he's involved.
<Liatus> Ah.
<Karnak> Good point, since we're all around the same level.
<DM> And I'll tally up in the logs.
<DM> He's currently 3rd level, so it'll be a while for him.
<DM> Now, if I may direct your attention to the map...
<Karnak> Map link is up off the dnd page.
<DM> The big arched room in the middle of the map, #20, is the dragon room where you are now. The twisty hallway off to the right of it is the "back door". 26 is the fountain room, 32 and 33 are the barrier rooms.
<DM> Through 19 to 24 is the "front door".
<Karnak> That helps. It looks like all we've got left is the goblin chief. I thought there was a lot more left in this place.
<DM> You don't know how much I've cropped. :)
<11: Silana> Where's the link?
<11: DM> http://www.baugh.info/citadel1.jpg
<Liatus> 40 is where we took the prisoners?
<DM> Right.
* Liatus nods.
<DM> Er, excuse me.
<DM> 15 is the dragon room. You haven't actually been in room 20, but at some point one of the guards or Meepo would indicate that that's where the kobolds who don't fight live.
<Meridius> 40 would be where the goblins were living. The kobolds' larder is somewhere else.
<DM> 20 is for the kobolds what 40 is for the goblins.
<DM> The larder where the goblins are locked up is room 22.
<Liatus> Wait. If we're in 19, then we came a long way back from where we killed the rats we'd locked up earlier.
<DM> 15 has the cage and altar marked on it, and yes, it is kind of a twisty way around from there to the rats.
<Liatus> er, 15 rather. Never mind
<Liatus> I think I''m oriented now.
<Liatus> So where are we planning to go now?
<DM> Looks like back to 4 and then to the unknown area of 6 and beyond is one option - the one Karnak raised. The other is back into known goblin country one way or the other.
<Liatus> I thought we'd agreed on Goblin hunting?
<DM> I wasn't sure.
<Aragorn> Lets hunt some goblin! [Meridius]
<Ercaius> "Anywhere I may swing these weapons the goblins were so careless as to drop upon death would suit me fine." [DM]
<Meridius> "That's the spirit!"
* Before retiring, Silana expends her remaining cantrips as Mending spells. She has a feeling she's going to be needing those crossbow bolts she'd recovered. [Silana]
<DM> Right. Spellcasters may choose their rosters for the new day, and Ercaius will have his new armor waiting for him. Not the best protection in the world, but it beats rags.
<Karnak> "My idea would be to rest up, then go finish off the Goblin chief, like we promised.
<Karnak> "And, looking at my map, we can probably do that just by going head on."
<11: Karnak> Or "Current Map" of http://members.shaw.ca/ogier/dandd.htm
<DM> According to the goblin crone's pointing, the chief hangs out beyond that curved wall in room 40.
<11: Silana> I still don't see that link, and I've refreshed three times. I saw the map via Bruce's URL, but not from http://members.shaw.ca/ogier/dandd.htm
<11: Meridius> Hold down the shift key when you press the reload button to force an absolute refresh.
<11: Silana> No change.
<11: Silana> Where is the link supposed to be?
<11: Meridius> Near the top under the list of sessions.
<11: Karnak> "Current Map"
<DM> All right, spellcasters, please make a note of your plans for the new day. Is anyone down hp? If so, Ercaius can heal before resting.
* Liatus votes for going back through the baricades in room 33 to room 38.
* Liatus has his standard spell arsenal.
<11: Silana> Gah. I don't see any sessions other than #1, either.
<11: Karnak> Weird.
<11: Meridius> Dump you cache and history, terminate your browser app and start from scratch.
<11: Silana> This Windows install was done more recently than when this version of the page was current. This is bizarre.
<Karnak> "I guess if we're going to avoid the Queen, that's the best route to take
<11: DM> Time does move along, though. If Dan can see the map some way, maybe we can save the rest until later?
<11: Silana> Yes, I've seen the map, let's move on.
* Karnak heads up to the door in the corner of the room, and listens, just in case Goblins lurk to ambush us.
<DM> Through the side hall and on, then. You may listen and/or search at your discretion.
<DM> Good thinking, Karnak. Listen check.
* Liatus also listens.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+6 = 25 (19).
## Liatus rolled 1d20+3 = 4 (1).
<DM> If there were anything to hear, Karnak would have heard it. :)
* Liatus sees its going to be one *those* sessions.
<Karnak> "We're clear.
* Liatus slowly pulls open the door.
<DM> Sure enough, the hallway beyond is quiet and apparently undisturbed since the last time you came through.
## DM rolled 1d2 = 1 (1).
<DM> Just checking something else. Never mind that roll.
<11: Akbar> It's a trap! [Liatus]
<11: DM> No it's not.
<11: Liatus> Suuuuuuuuure it's not.
<Liatus> Marching order?
<DM> So you're at the empty room, 25, and ready to move beyond it to the fountain room, 26.
* Liatus checks to make sure there are no lurking skeletons.
<DM> No lurking skeletons, just bones in piles.
<11: Meridius> I need to break away for just a moment. Back in a bit.
<11: DM> If anything crucial arises, we'll wait.
* Liatus slowly moves forward.
<DM> Up ahead is the by-now-familiar junction, up to rats and over to barricade rooms.
<Silana> "Let's go the way of the barricades. I'd rather avoid the 'Let there be Death' room."
* Liatus suggests Karnak sneaking ahead to see if the baracades have been remanned?
<DM> Good choice, Silana, particularly since that doesn't actually connect to goblin country.
<DM> You could tunnel through the wall, but that would be inefficient.
* 11: Silana peers again at the map, and erks. Thought 30 connected to 32.
<11: Meridius> I'm back.
* Silana retcons what she just said ICly.
<11: DM> You have to be pretty damn manly and/or magical to get through that way. :)
<DM> Karnak, do you wish to scout, or would you prefer that y'all move en masse?
* Karnak will scout.
<11: Liatus> See, this is why I think we should play as Barbarians.
<11: DM> :)
<Karnak> Move Silent, then Hide:
## Karnak rolled 1d20+5 = 15 (10).
## Karnak rolled 1d20+5 = 10 (5).
<11: Liatus> Then we can kill every living thing we find, adn use our super macho strength to just tear our way through the wall.
<DM> Okay, that gets you to the door to hallway 31 without making any noise. The door itself is shut.
* Karnak tries to remember if we shut it.
* Karnak listens at the door.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+6 = 14 (8).
<DM> It sounds quiet beyond there.
* Karnak will open the door and peek down the hall, holding the lantern well above his head.
<DM> Seems still, down there.
* Karnak will open the door some more, then go back and get the party.
<DM> Ercaius looks up as you return. "What news? All quiet as tombs, I hope?"
* 11: Liatus was just wondering the same thing as Bruce
<Karnak> "It's all quiet. I think we can go. I bet we've dealt with nearly all the goblins, now."
* Liatus nods and moves up to the door.
<DM> The hallway that was once filled with caltrops remains cleared, thanks to Meridius. The barrier beyond it looks like someone tried to repair it a bit and then gave up on the effort.
* Liatus readies his sword, just in case.
* Meridius has a pilum on standby.
<DM> What is the order of folks at this point, by the way?
* 11: Karnak has added a Marching Order diagram to the dnd page.
<11: Karnak> Down at the bottom.
<11: DM> Ah ha, thanks.
<11: Karnak> The spacing isn't perfect.
<DM> And Listen checks would be in order.
<11: Silana> Which reads, for those of us with browsers stuck on 5 weeks ago?
<11: Karnak> Karnak has the Lantern still, so it throwing 30 ft. radius light. I don't know if anyone has the everburning candle going.
<11: Karnak> Karnak, Meridius, Silana, Liatus in a staggered formation.
<11: DM> Karnak, Meridius, Silana, Liatus. (Ercaius with Liatus.)
## Liatus rolled 1d20+3 = 11 (8).
<11: DM> Meepo somewhere behind. :)
## Karnak rolled 1d20+6 = 9 (3).
* 11: Karnak mutters about taking Ercaius along.
## Silana rolled 1d20+3 = 18 (15).
<11: Karnak> That's just going to slow down our leveling.
<Silana> Er, that should be +2.
<11: Karnak> But yes, I assume hangers-on are behind that order somewhere.
* Karnak hopes Silana hears the ambush...
* Silana holds up a hand, and a finger of her other hand to her lips.
* Meridius listens.
## Meridius rolled 1d20-1 = 17 (18).
* Karnak will hold up.
*DM* You also hear a faint scrabbling sound on the other side of the barricade.
* Silana then pantomimes a clawing or scrabbling motion, and indicates 'up and over' toward the barricade.
* Meridius gives a thumbs up to Silana.
<DM> As Karnak comes to a halt, there's a sudden tearing sound like ripping cloth just beyond the barricade, and two dire rats come charging over it. Somewhere out of sight, a big booming voice yells something ominous-sounding in an unfamiliar language.
<DM> Initiative time.
## DM rolled 1d20+3 = 6 (3).
## Meridius rolled 1d20+4 = 19 (15).
<DM> Damn, it's gimpy dire rats again.
## Silana rolled 1d20+2 = 4 (2).
## Karnak rolled 1d20+2 = 20 (18).
* 11: Silana isn't slow, she's just holding her action to see what you all do. Really.
## DM rolled 1d20 = 4 (4).
<DM> That was for Ercaius.
<DM> Right now the rats are teetering on the brink of the barrier, looking hungrily at the first in line, which happens to be Karnak.
<DM> Karnak, you may express an objection. :)
<Karnak> We need Liatus.
<DM> ah, yes.
<Liatus> Is my Initiative still only +1?
<Karnak> Yep.
<DM> Yup.
<11: Maya> And those behind cried, Forward! And those before cried, Back!
<11: DM> :)
* Liatus wonders why his is lower than the sorcerer.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+1 = 4 (3).
* Karnak will adopt a Drunken Monkey stance (use Expertise to give +1 AC), and will then advance on the dire rats. (Lower DEX, BA).
<11: Meridius> The party, based on Maya's description, compresses into a white dwarf star.
<11: Karnak> The order: Karnak, Meridius, Rats, Silana, Liatus, Ercaius.
<Karnak> And, since I'm guessing that's more than a 5 ft. step, I'll do a single attack on the rat (which should be flatfooted, and get no Dex)
## Karnak rolled 1d20 = 8 (8).
<DM> No, the rats knew you were coming.
<11: Silana> I have a Dex bonus, BA.
<Karnak> Doesn't matter. Flat-footed is a function of your initiative roll.
<DM> Oh, true.
<Karnak> And I'll miss, anyway.
<DM> Meridius, your turn.
<11: Karnak> Meridius is up.
<11: Karnak> And Silana has a higher Dex than Liatus and Ercaius, (and Liatus a higher Dex than Ercaius).
* 11: Maya grins.
<Meridius> I'll cast my pilum at whichever rat is not engaged with Karnak.
<DM> Righto.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+2 = 10 (8).
<DM> They're AC 15.
<Karnak> No Dex, Bruce.
<DM> So that does not serve.
<Karnak> I think they're AC 11, flatfooted -- 10 + 1 Size.
<Karnak> (so he still misses, but...)
<11: Karnak> Rats.
* Karnak bobs and weaves like a monkey on the sauce, (AC 15).
<11: Karnak> As an aside, I do like that the 3.5 monster block will include Flatfooted and Touch ACs.
<DM> The rats lunge at Karnak from, respectively, right and left.
## DM rolled 1d20+3 = 16 (13).
## DM rolled 1d20+3 = 19 (16).
<DM> Both hit...
## DM rolled 1d4 = 1 (1).
* Karnak apparently isn't drunk enough.
## DM rolled 1d4 = 4 (4).
## Karnak rolled 1d20+2 = 21 (19).
## Karnak rolled 1d20+2 = 22 (20).
<DM> For a total of 5 hp of damage. And karnak needs to make two DC 12 Fortitude checks to avoid disease from their bite.
* Karnak saves against Disease.
<DM> I would say so.
<DM> Silana, your turn.
* 11: Liatus offers Karnak some of the goblin whiskey he found earlier if it'll help.
<Karnak> "Ouch, damn, bugger... Stupid trainin... ouch!"
<11: Karnak> I'd definitely dull the pain of failure. :)
<Silana> Can I get a shot at one of them?
<Karnak> They're both in combat with me, so you'd be at -4 to hit.
<DM> Yes, you can. It's -4 for them being in melee, but you've got a reasonable line of sight.
## Silana rolled 1d20-1 = 19 (20).
<Liatus> woo
<11: Silana> WAKA.
<DM> Again! Again! (To check for critical.)
<11: Karnak> Crit chance.
## Silana rolled 1d20-1 = 6 (7).
<DM> Just regular damage.
## Silana rolled 1d8 = 1 (1).
<11: Silana> Bleh.
<11: Karnak> Betrayed by the dice!
<DM> Your shot just grazes it, alas.
<11: Karnak> Liatus.
<DM> Liatus?
<Liatus> Can I close with one of the rats and attack it?
<DM> You can close this turn and strike next (this is a half-round, basically).
<Liatus> Or perhaps even flank one of them?
<11: Karnak> Why is this a half-round, Bruce?
<11: Karnak> Neither side was surprised.
<Liatus> Or give Karnak a flanking bonus next turn?
<DM> Ermph. Excuse me, yes, you can move in and attack.
* Liatus will try to stab one of the rats in the back then.
<DM> Go ye and stab.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+2 = 3 (1).
* Liatus sighs.
<11: Karnak> (should be +2 for Flanking, but a 1 always misses, so)
<11: Karnak> Ercaius.
<11: Liatus> This is clearly going to be another of the "Laiatus can't do a damn thing" sessions.
<11: Karnak> I gots a plan, Liatus. :)
<DM> Ercaius raises his hands invokes the power of the gods of the grove to cleanse all unrighteous things from the land beneath the roots. You are all duly blessed, and get +1 attack bonuses for the rest of the fight.
<DM> Now into the next round.
* 11: Liatus could've just wizzed on the thing and been more effective.
<11: Meridius> Rats are easily repulsed by the heinousity of clerical urine.
<Karnak> Okay, Karnak continues Monkey Stance (+1 AC from Expertise), but will gets all defensive (+3AC, -4 Attack), and will then use his attack to Aid Liatus in his efforts.
## Karnak rolled 1d20-4 = 14 (18).
<DM> Ah, cool. So Liatus gets +1 for being blessed _and_ +2 for the aid.
<DM> Meanwhile, Meridius may do his thing.
<Karnak> And I'm not AC 18.
<Karnak> Now, that is.
## DM rolled 1d20+6 = 17 (11).
* Meridius draws his gladius and plunges it into the nearest rat.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+5 = 23 (18).
* 11: Karnak gets +3 AC for the Fighting Defensive because his Tumble Ranks are 5 now.
<DM> That there's a hit, Meridius.
## Meridius rolled 1d6+2 = 8 (6).
<DM> That there's a killing blow, Meridius. Care to Cleave?
<Meridius> Yes.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+5 = 12 (7).
<DM> Alas, no go.
<Meridius> Okay.
<DM> The surviving rat bites again at Karnak.
## DM rolled 1d20+3 = 16 (13).
<DM> Would have made it if it weren't for your defenses.
* Karnak hops up and around the rat, "Hoo! Hah! Ki---ya!"
<DM> So, Silana.
* Having reloaded, Silana takes aim and fires again, hoping for a more solid hit on the remaining rat. [Silana]
## Silana rolled 1d20-1 = 10 (11).
<Silana> And misses cleanly.
<DM> A more solid miss, alas.
<DM> Liatus, your turn, and remember that you get +3 more than your usual.
<11: Karnak> So I get Liatus with +2 melee + 1 bless + 2 flank + 2 aid = +7 total.
* Liatus staps the remaining rat
## Liatus rolled 1d20+5 = 23 (18).
<DM> Now that's a hit.
## Liatus rolled 1d6 = 4 (4).
<DM> a good solid hit, too. It's bleeding profusely.
<DM> Ercaius doesn't fancy his chances heaving a javelin into the throng, and holds back.
<Karnak> Round 3.
<11: Karnak> Sure, didn't even -need- my help.
<DM> Looming into view beyond the barricade is the biggest damn goblin you've ever seen, seven feet tall and wearing a helmet to which a full set of antlers have been attached. He almost scrapes the ceiling.
## DM rolled 1d3 = 1 (1).
<11: Maya> Willya look at the rack on that one!
<DM> He's got a javelin in hand, which he hurls at Meridius.
## DM rolled 1d20+3 = 15 (12).
* Silana erks. Forgot the bonus. Not that it probably mattered.
* Karnak gulps.
<Meridius> That's one shy of a hit.
<Meridius> I take it on my shield.
<DM> Fortunately, the javelin hits armor and bounces off. The goblin yells whatever it is he's yelling again.
<11: Liatus> Jesus Frickin' Crist, it's the Hulk!
<DM> As a reminder, it's a DC 14 Jump check to get over the barricade _and_ move, or a regular move to get over it automatically.
<DM> Karnak, your turn.
<11: Liatus> Damn, now I really wish I'd played a Barbarian.
* Karnak continues Monkey Stance (+1 AC), and unleash a world of hurt on the remaining dire rat (+2 flank, +1 Bless, -2 Flurry, so +1 total)
## Karnak rolled 1d20+1 = 12 (11).
## Karnak rolled 1d20+1 = 13 (12).
<DM> Good flurry, but to little direct avail.
* Karnak goes "Ouch" and rubs his scraped knuckles from hitting the floor.
<Meridius> Can I get over the wall without provoking an attack of opportunity from either the rat or the goblin?
<DM> Yes, since the goblin's not flat up against the barricade.
<Meridius> I'll use a regular move to get over the barricade, then.
<DM> Righto.
<DM> And there's nobody at melee attack range where you are.
<11: Darth Meridius> I'm on the leader. [Meridius]
<11: Karnak> I'm a little concerned.
<11: Karnak> I didn't expect a 7 ft. tall goblin.
<DM> The remaining rat, now bleeding profusely, goes for Karnak again.
## DM rolled 1d20+3 = 14 (11).
<Karnak> AC 15.
<DM> Damn, this is the battle of close misses. :)
<DM> Silana?
* Karnak pulls his foot back at the last second!
* Silana's eyes go wide as she sees the Very Large Goblin, and she chooses to forego an attack to instead cast Mage Armor this round, sharing it with Gnaea. The air around her shimmers for a moment as her magical protections come into being.
<11: Karnak> Liatus should be +2 Flank, +1 Bless, +2 attack = +5 again.
<11: DM> Right.
<11: Karnak> Unless he's going to go for the goblin chief.
* Liatus speaks in Draconic, cursing the oversized goblin in the name of the Imperial Presence (casting Doom on him).
<11: Karnak> Liatus is casting in a threat zone, so will get AoO unless he Combat Casts.
<DM> He musters his will to resist...
<11: Karnak> (so he might want to just 5' step back out of the threat zone instead)
<Liatus> Do I need to roll?
## DM rolled 1d20+2 = 22 (20).
<Liatus> Oh for the love of....
<DM> No, your casting is automatic, it's just that he gets a saving throw.
<DM> By the way, shall we figure that you're doing the five-foot step out of the fight and then the Dooming?
<Liatus> Yes.
<DM> Righto.
<11: Karnak> Otherwise he has to Cast on the Defensive, risk the AoO or make a DC16 Concentration check to cast defensively.
<DM> Ercaius says, "I fear I can do little here save heal any of you should you become damaged."
<11: Karnak> And if he takes damage from the AoO, he makes a DC 10+damage Concentration check or loses the spell.
<Karnak> "I think that'll be very neccessary, very soon.
<DM> At the start of the next round, ye mighty hunter roars and steps up to swing at Meridius with his morningstar, which shimmers faintly.
## DM rolled 1d20+6 = 15 (9).
<Meridius> That misses by one.
<11: Karnak> Oi vey.
<DM> WHAM!
<DM> Karnak?
* Karnak swallows.
<11: Liatus> Stick with the rat, dude.
* Karnak will try and finish off the rat, so drops to Tiger Stance and kicks...
## Karnak rolled 1d20+2 = 3 (1).
* Karnak sighs.
<11: Karnak> I'm afraid the rat will kill me.
<DM> Meridius, your turn.
* Meridius thrusts at the goblin chief.
* Karnak hops around holding his sore foot, going "oo, oo, oo."
## Meridius rolled 1d20+5 = 22 (17).
<DM> A hit!
## Meridius rolled 1d6+2 = 7 (5).
<DM> (He's AC 18.)
<DM> Seven points of damage draws some blood.
<DM> The remaining rat chews at Karnak.
<Meridius> At the same time as I strike I yell in Dwarven, "For the Empire!"
## DM rolled 1d20+3 = 16 (13).
<Meridius> I figure speaking in Dwarven ought to enrage it nicely if it understands the language. :)
<DM> Are you still AC 18, Karnak?
<DM> (It works, Meridius. He snarls something back at you.)
<Meridius> And battle cries always sound good in Dwarven.
<Karnak> No, AC 14.
<DM> In that case it does hit...
## DM rolled 1d4 = 3 (3).
<DM> ...for three points. And another DC 12 Fort check.
* Karnak looks woozy...
## Karnak rolled 1d20+2 = 20 (18).
<DM> Liatus?
<DM> Excuse me, silana?
* Silana chooses to go for the sure thing -- If there's a time she was saving her spells for today, this is it. Scowling defiantly, she points her finger and utters an arcane word, sending a bolt of magical force streaking at the goblin.
## Silana rolled 1d4+1 = 3 (2).
<DM> That brings him up to 10 hp, then, and he's a bit surprised to find a ray of light poking holes in him.
<DM> Now, Liatus.
<Liatus> Am I in a possition to attack the last rat?
<DM> Yes, you are.
* Liatus will do so then.
<DM> With +1 for being blessed and 2 for flanking.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+5 = 14 (9).
<DM> Close, but no go.
<11: Liatus> I think next turn I'll just light myself on fire and throw myself at the goblin.
<DM> Ercaius moves up closer to the barrier now that there's the space made by Meridius going over, and flings his javelin at the goblin.
<11: Karnak> No, no. I'll try and help you...
## DM rolled 1d20+2 = 12 (10).
<11: Karnak> Don't forget the minuses for into combat.
<DM> Wouldn't have worked even before the -4 for being in melee. He assessed himself rightly.
<11: Karnak> Ugh. :)
<DM> the goblin takes another mighty blow at Meridius...
## DM rolled 1d20+6 = 10 (4).
<DM> ...for a loose and flexible definition of "mighty".
<DM> Karnak.
* Karnak tries to ignore the ripped flesh around his ankles, and stomps on the rat a few times. (+2 flank, +1 bless, -2 Flurry)...
## Karnak rolled 1d20+1 = 12 (11).
## Karnak rolled 1d20+1 = 16 (15).
<DM> That second one hits.
<Karnak> "Take that! And that! Just stand still ... aha!"
## Karnak rolled 1d6 = 3 (3).
<DM> He's still up, but he's showing a lot more viscera than a rat really likes to do.
<DM> Meridius.
<Meridius> Another thrust.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+5 = 6 (1).
<Meridius> And gets the whiff...
<Karnak> He's taken 7 points and he's still up!?
<DM> The rat bites at the nearest waving monastic foot.
<DM> Yes, Karnak.
## DM rolled 1d20+3 = 23 (20).
<Karnak> "AAAAAAH!
## DM rolled 1d20+3 = 18 (15).
* Karnak waves bye bye to the nice people.
<DM> Ooh, critical on Karnak's foot.
## DM rolled 2d4 = 5 (2 3).
<DM> That takes you up to 12 hp of damage, I believe.
* Karnak drops like a sack of potatoes.
<DM> And a poison save. :)
<Karnak> (13...)
## Karnak rolled 1d20+2 = 19 (17).
<DM> Silana?
* Karnak is at 0 hp.
* Silana looses another magical bolt at the goblin...
<11: Liatus> You have 13 hps
## Silana rolled 1d4+1 = 5 (4).
<DM> At the goblin again, I take it, Silana?
* 11: Meridius is thinking taking out the rat would've been a better idea.
<DM> Ah, yes. Okay, he's up to 15 points, and maintaining a sneer.
<DM> Liatus.
* Liatus tries to kill the rat again
<DM> +1 for being blessed.
<Liatus> do I still get the flanking bonus while it's chewing on Karnak's foot.?
<11: Karnak> That's not normal rat.
<Karnak> No, silly.
* Karnak groans and writhes on the floor.
<11: Meridius> My last comment was in reference to the use of magic missiles.
* Liatus thinks he should. The rat is clearly preoccupied with your foot.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+3 = 14 (11).
<11: Karnak> I'm no longer exerting a threat zone, BA, so no flanking bonus.
<DM> Liatus once again comes close.
* 11: Karnak hopes Ercaius will do some curing...
<11: Liatus> Oh for fucks sake, I am absolutely worthless here.
<DM> Ercaius kneels beside Karnak and calls on the gods of the grove to exercise mercy upon this bold man.
## DM rolled 1d8+2 = 8 (6).
<DM> Have 8 hp back, Karnak. Seems like the gods of the grove are on your side.
<DM> The now-bleeding goblin swings his morningstar again at Meridius....
## DM rolled 1d20+6 = 7 (1).
<Karnak> Round 6, I believe.
<DM> ...and is once again confounded by fine imperial craftsmanship.
<DM> Karnak, you're functional again.
<11: Liatus> It's airball city all around.
* Karnak will use his move to stand up, and will then try to wring the darn rat's neck.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+4 = 19 (15).
<DM> There you go.
## Karnak rolled 1d6 = 4 (4).
<DM> And with a sudden snap, its neck cracks.
* Karnak twists and twists and twists, "Die! Die! Die!"
<11: Liatus> DIE! DIE! DIE YOU LITTLE FUZZY BASTARD!
<11: DM> :)
<11: Karnak> Finally.
<DM> Meridius?
<11: Karnak> Screw the goblin chief, this Rat was the true threat here.
<11: Meridius> Further proof that Karnak's monkish discipline isn't holding up to well in the face of 'Adventure!'
<Meridius> I'll take another shot at the goblin chief.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+5 = 21 (16).
<DM> That's another hit.
## Meridius rolled 1d6+2 = 7 (5).
<DM> Good one! He's up to 22 hp and not looking so clever now.
<DM> Silana?
* Silana keeps on with the magic missiles, judging that she'd have little chance of hitting with her crossbow.
## Silana rolled 1d4+1 = 5 (4).
<DM> He growls something about this third light-created hole in him.
<11: Silana> And another 5 this round. :)
<DM> Liatus can, if you'd like, climb the barricade as your move and attack the goblin, getting +2 for flanking as well as the blessing.
* Liatus does so
## Liatus rolled 1d20+5 = 21 (16).
<11: Karnak> Woot!
<DM> That's a hit!
## Liatus rolled 1d6 = 5 (5).
* Liatus leaps into the fray and hits hard!
<DM> That takes him to 32 hp, and he just isn't looking as fresh as he used to.
<DM> Ercaius can't do much in the situation, and mostly tries not to get in the way.
* Karnak could use another heal...
<DM> Oh, true enough.
<DM> Ercaius therefore works on continuing the process beguns o far.
## DM rolled 1d8+2 = 5 (3).
<DM> Another 5 hp back.
* Karnak is back to full hit points!
<Karnak> Round 7.
<DM> Meanwhile, the big goblin is by golly gonna hit SOMETHING, he's determined, and swing again at Meridius.
## DM rolled 1d20+6 = 22 (16).
<DM> And hits, finally.
<Liatus> crap
<11: Karnak> D'oh!
## DM rolled 1d8+4 = 12 (8).
<11: Karnak> Well, Meridius is tough.
* 11: Karnak coughs.
<DM> Hits darned well, too.
<11: Karnak> Holy frip.
<DM> Karnak?
* Karnak pauses briefly to give Ercaius a nod of thanks, then will try to jump the wall, tumble to behind the Goblin, and attempt to do a Stunning Blow on the big creature, driving a fist into its kidney...
## Karnak rolled 1d20+6 = 15 (9).
* Karnak manages the jump.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+7 = 19 (12).
<DM> And a good hit!
* Karnak swings from the big guys antlers and lands behind him.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+4 = 14 (10).
<DM> Oh, wait, I see.
* Karnak but unfortunately, doesn't hit.
<DM> Jump, tumble, no hit.
<DM> Meridius?
* Karnak shakes his hand, "His armor is too tough!"
<11: Liatus> Meridius peels himself off the wall...
<11: Karnak> Probably cracked a rib or two with that hit.
* Meridius shrugs off the blow from the goblin's morningstar and lets loose with another thrust from his gladius.
<11: DM> Quite likely.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+5 = 15 (10).
<DM> Alas, no go.
<DM> There are no rats left, so it's Silana's turn.
<11: Karnak> Silana has what, one 1st level spell left?
<11: DM> 2.
* Her fear overtaken by anger as she sees (and hears) the force of the goblin's blow strike Meridius, Silana fires off her final spell. [Silana]
## Silana rolled 1d4+1 = 5 (4).
<11: Karnak> Mage Armor, Magic Missile, Magic Missile, Magic Missile... I count 4 used.
<11: Silana> Dayamn. That's three maxes in a row.
<11: DM> Oh, forgot the mage armor.
<DM> That takes the goblin to 37 hp of damage, and with a final snarl, he crumples where he stands.
<11: Karnak> Thank the gods.
* Liatus is stabbing him again in the neck for good measure
* Karnak checks for other attackers lurking in the corners?
<DM> No other attackers in sight.
<Meridius> "He was said to have bodyguards. Be wary."
* Silana sighs with relief as she sees the goblin go down. "That took all I had, guys."
<Karnak> "I'm hoping they meant those super rats."
<DM> Ercaius quickly climbs over the barricade and offers healing to Meridius.
## DM rolled 1d8+2 = 4 (2).
<Meridius> "Thanks for the assistance, Silana."
<DM> He must be worn out for healing Karnak so much. :)
* Liatus wishes to cut the goblin's head off and take it with him.
* Karnak will go listen at the door?
<DM> Sure.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+6 = 15 (9).
<DM> Nothing stirring in the second barrier room, it sounds like.
<11: DM> 800 XP for the trio there.
<11: Karnak> Divided by 5.
<Liatus> Once I do that, I will ask the Imperial Presence to heal it's loyal warrior, Meridius and cast cure light wounds.
<11: Karnak> So 160 xp, each.
<Liatus> 1d8+2?
<DM> Right.
## Liatus rolled 1d8+2 = 4 (2).
<DM> So Meridius has gotten back 8 of his lost 12 hp.
<DM> Anyone checking out the corpse?
* Liatus will
<Meridius> "Much better. Thank you, gentlemen."
<Liatus> Search roll?
<DM> Yup.
* Karnak will peek out the door, just to confirm nothing lurks on the other side.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+2 = 20 (18).
<DM> Besides the faintly glowing morningstar, he had 165 sp in a small pouch, his waterflask, 5 more javelins ready to throw, and a potion.
<DM> All quiet in there, Karnak. Someone dragged the bodies out of the way.
* Liatus pockets the pouch, flask and potion, and javelins, and offers the morningstar to Meridius as a trophy.
* Meridius thinks Liatus' pockets must be huge to hold javelins. :)
<DM> :)
* Karnak thinks Liatus' pockets are huge, since he pockets everything.
* 11: Liatus has, in reading, learned that javelins are counted as simple weapons, which means I can use them.
* Meridius takes the morningstar, and nods deeply to Liatus.
<11: Liatus> So I have a ranged attack. A crappy ranged attack, but a ranged attack non the less.
<DM> (It's a +1 morningstar, Chris, for your records.)
* Liatus asks Meepo if he wants any trophys from the goblin.
<Meridius> (Got it. Thanks.)
<DM> Meepo clambers over the barrier, knife drawn, and in moments that goblin would be unable to have any children if he were somehow resurrected.
<Meepo> "Nasty bugbear! Didn't know goblins had any of these." [DM]
<Karnak> "I think its clear up ahead. We could probably press on and loot his throne room."
* Silana says, "If we run into any of that guy's friends, or especially more than one of them at a time, we're done for."
* Liatus thinks waving his head on a stick will take some of the fight out of them.
<DM> Meepo looks very impressed at you all.
<Liatus> "I vote for pressing on. If we run into too much trouble, we can always retreat and bar one of the doors behind us."
* Karnak checks his ankles, "Thanks for that healing, Ercaius. I was done for."
<DM> Ercaius bows. "It is a pleasure to assist in this work."
* Karnak nods, "Plus we've got that glowing weapon now!"
<Karnak> "No wonder that old crone figured we'd be in trouble. That chief sure was tough.
* Silana looks at Karnak a bit guiltily. "I'm sorry I didn't help you with the rat. I saw the huge goblin, and I was scared by it..."
* Meridius hefts the morningstar and says, "Yeah, this oughta do." <grins evilly>
* Karnak wanders over and, since no one else has, he takes the helmet with the antlers and hangs it from his pack.
<Meridius> "But are we sure that was the chief or some sort of special minion? We need to move on to that tower room and check."
* Karnak swallows, "You think the chief might be tougher than that guy?"
<Meridius> "Meepo called this creature a bugbear. It's unclear to me whether a bugbear would be a chief of goblins, or a minion of goblins."
<11: Karnak> As an aside, you realize that we've been "adventuring" for probably no more than 3-4 minutes in game time. :)
<Karnak> "He looked like a goblin. A big goblin."
* Karnak looks at the door.
<11: Karnak> That fight wasn't even a minute.
<Meridius> "Aye, but lets not assume too much."
* Karnak nods. "You want me to check out the next barrier?"
* Liatus nods to Karnak. "Do so, but be careful."
<Silana> "Whatever he was, it took all the magic I had -- at least of the directly damaging kind -- to finish him.
* Karnak will exchange the lantern pole for the everburning candle, then (and a pouch). He'll slip through the door, and try and sneak up to peek at the barrier.
<DM> Righto. Move Silent?
## Karnak rolled 1d20+5 = 14 (9).
## Karnak rolled 1d20+5 = 19 (14).
<Karnak> Move Silent and Hide.
* Karnak is covering the candle with the pouch, to control how much light it lets off.
<DM> Nothing leaps out to grab you, and you find this room empty apart from what was presumably the bedroll for that big guy.
* Karnak will listen at the door to #38, then.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+6 = 14 (8).
<DM> Seems quiet.
* Karnak heads back and informs the party, "Nothing there. I think he was sleeping in the next room. Maybe he isn't the chief."
<Liatus> "Damn. I want the cheif's head."
<Meridius> "I'm sure a bugbear's head will also impress your goblin crone."
<Silana> "I'll be happy with keeping mine, for the moment.
<Meridius> "But lets see if we can add the chief's head to our collection."
<11: Silana> Argh. I keep leaving off the end quotes.
<11: Meridius> I can add them later in editing. :)
* Liatus mutters. "I don't wish to impress the hag. I wish to put the fear of the Emperor in her."
<Meridius> "Heh."
<11: DM> BA, :)
<DM> All right, so, what now?
* Meridius is ready to move on.
* Karnak leads the way, then, heading through to room 38.
<DM> This room, you find, is a storeroom. It's got casks of water, flasks and chests of various sizes scattered around.
<Karnak> Have we been here before?
<DM> Nope. You've been on each side of it, which is why I didn't black it out.
<DM> The labels, unfortunately, are all in goblin.
* Karnak will search the room, then. "Maybe they've hidden something here."
## Karnak rolled 1d20+1 = 3 (2).
* Karnak ... or not.
* Meridius asks Meepo, "Are you able to read the goblin's language?"
<DM> Karnak discerns that there is a floor.
<DM> Meepo shakes his head. "Goblins not of dragon blood, speak bad impure language. Not know it."
<Meridius> "Ercaius, are you familiar with that tongue?"
* Liatus searches the room also
## Liatus rolled 1d20+2 = 18 (16).
<DM> Ercaius shakes his head, too. "I have made no study of these matters. I always assumed that one would not be adventuring beneath the skin of the world unless one had freely chosen it."
* Karnak will go over and listen at door to #39, while others find what he can't.
* Meridius nods to Ercaius.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+6 = 14 (8).
<DM> Liatus, you discover that five of the flasks on hooks near the door you came in had a pint of oil each.
<DM> Sounds quiet beyond there, too, Karnka.
* Liatus takes the flasks, with visions of firebombs dancing in his head.
* Karnak thinks we'll need a shopping cart for Liatus soon.
* Karnak will ease the door to #39 open, and peer inside the long hall.
<DM> Liatus, you also find that one of the big barrels has something like very chunky pudding in it, including what are clearly pieces of inadequately diced and ground elf.
<DM> The long hall is also dark and quiet, Karnak. It may not be clear from the way I blacked things out, but there are three doors on the north wall.
<Liatus> "My, how unappetizing."
<Karnak> "All clear in the hallway."
<Karnak> "Or hall. Whatever we're calling it."
<11: Maya> How does he know it's pieces of _elf_? :)
<11: DM> the pointed ears, mostly.
<11: Karnak> I expect the tips of the ears.
<11: Maya> Aha.
* Silana fights back the impulse to retch at Liatus' discovery.
<11: Karnak> And the pale skin on some bits.
* Liatus readies to move into the long hall.
<Meridius> "We've been here before, coming in through that south door. Lets examine each of the northern doors before moving on."
* Karnak nods, and slips through the door and up to the door closest to the west wall. He listens.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+6 = 22 (16).
<DM> Inside the hall, you can see a huge mound of stuff piled against the door to that room that leads to the "front door" hallway. It must weigh...a lot.
<DM> Karnak, you hear a little scratching noise from time to time behind that first door.
<Meridius> I don't grok that description of the location of the pile of stuff, Bruce.
* Karnak holds up his hand! "More rats."
<Karnak> I believe the mound of stuff is infront of the door to room #36.
<DM> The south door in room 39, yes.
<Karnak> The door that leads directly to the kobold throne room.
<DM> Furniture, clothes, goblin bodies, some loose chunks of rock.
<DM> No, not the door to #40. The door to #36.
<Karnak> Right. #36 leads to the kobold throne room.
<Karnak> (through the hallway)
<Karnak> As opposed to the goblin living quarters in room #40.
<DM> Well, several rooms are labeled #36, since they were all stocked the same way.
<DM> Oh!
<DM> My bad. I was reading it as "goblin throne room", not "kobold throne room". Yes, you're correct.
* Karnak steps back from the door, "Maybe one or two rats, I'm not sure."
<Meridius> "Check the next door down."
* Karnak nods, and does so.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+6 = 24 (18).
<DM> All quiet there.
<Karnak> "Nothing."
* Karnak goes to the next door.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+6 = 19 (13).
<11: Meridius> I forgot to stipulate that I recovered my pilum I'd thrown at a rat early in the last combat.
<DM> Likewise.
<Karnak> "And nothing here. Just the rats behind that door."
<Karnak> "We could jam the door like we did the last time."
* Silana checks her crossbow, fidgeting nervously, trying not to think about the contents of that barrel.
<Meridius> "Shall we exterminate those vermin?"
<Karnak> "... or we could do that."
* Karnak moves to open the door when everyone is ready.
* Meridius looks around for dissenting viewpoints on more rat killing.
* Liatus is ready
<Meridius> "Liatus, move to one side of the door and I'll take other. Karnak, open the door on my signal and tumble away. Silana and Ercaius, stand off a bit and engage the rats at range."
* Liatus nods to Meridius.
* Silana finds a vantage point, and readies herself.
* Karnak wil open the door, then.
<Meridius> When I see everyone's positioned, I say to Karnak, "Go!"
<DM> The room inside is about 25' wide and 30' long, arched at the far end. It's a trophy room, with reasonably well mounted heads of various species of local wildlife, and a couple of kobold heads. There were tables running down the middle of the room, but they're now jumbled up near the far end. And there's an iron pole set where one of the tables had been, with broken chains attached to it. There are also patches of what looks like ice on the floor here and there.
<DM> Perched on the jumble of furniture, gnawing on the remains of a dead goblin, is a little white dragon, about two feet long.
## DM rolled 1d20+3 = 19 (16).
<DM> It looks up, rather startled, at your entrance, but isn't quite caught by surprise.
<Meridius> "Hold! Meepo, forward! We've found your dragon."
<DM> Initiative time, just to be on the safe side.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+4 = 7 (3).
## Karnak rolled 1d20+2 = 14 (12).
## DM rolled 1d20 = 1 (1).
<DM> 14 for Calcryx.
## DM rolled 1d20 = 11 (11).
## Silana rolled 1d20+2 = 15 (13).
<DM> 11 for Ercaius.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+1 = 2 (1).
## DM rolled 1d20+1 = 6 (5).
<Karnak> What's Calcryx' dex?
<Liatus> oh for the love of
<DM> 6 for Meepo.
<DM> Dex 10.
<Karnak> So Karnak goes ahead of him.
<Karnak> (what, you're not using my roll for initiative, are you? you rolled a 1, Bruce. :)
<Karnak> (wait, that is)
<DM> Oh, I was. :)
<Karnak> Or does Calcryx has some feats to give him +10 Init?
<DM> 1 for Calcryx.
<DM> Sorry, I misread. :)
<Karnak> We need Silana. :) (Whew)
* Silana points up at her 15.
* Meridius points up at the orders he just gave.
<Karnak> (I'm one to talk, apparently...)
<DM> The dragon watches you all with a curious look, head cocked to one side.
<DM> So Silana holds?
<11: Karnak> So: Silana, Karnak, Ercaius, Meridius, Meepo, Liatus, and Calcryx.
<11: Silana> Oh, erp. My turn.
* Silana holds, yes, little else to do from where she is. :)
<Karnak> Holding, or passing, Silana?
<DM> Ask yourself the same question, Karnak! :)
<11: speaking to Calcryx> I'm Luke Skywalker, I'm here to rescue you! [Meridius]
* Karnak is tumbling out of the line of fire of the door way, to one side, per Meridius orders.
<DM> Ercaius smiles at the teeny tiny dragon. "Such a long way from home, it must be."
<DM> Meridius takes his own advice, I assume.
<11: Karnak> Meridius is up.
<11: Karnak> So meepo.
* 11: Karnak is assuming we're all passing, rather than holding.
* Meridius slowly lowers his morningstar, looks at the dragon and then very deliberately moves his eyes to Meepo.
<DM> Meepo sees the dragon and laughs out loud. "Found Calcryx! Come to ones who love you!" He charges into the room...
<11: Karnak> (since holding requires us to announce what would make us take action)
## DM rolled 1d20+1 = 4 (3).
<DM> ...and falls flat on his kobold butt on a patch of ice about 10' into the room.
<11: Karnak> Liatus.
<11: Silana> I'm just waiting for the dragon to express how little it really /liked/ living in that little cage, tended by kobold half-wits...
<11: Karnak> I was just thinking the same thing.
<11: Karnak> Did we agree to return the dragon or just to find it for the kobolds?
<DM> I'll assume that Liatus also passes.
* Liatus keeps a sharp eye for possible traps.
<DM> Calcryx fixes Meepo with a look of pure absolute hatred and rushes at him, claws and beak outstretched...
<Liatus> And ambushes.
## DM rolled 1d20+5 = 9 (4).
## DM rolled 1d20 = 18 (18).
## DM rolled 1d20 = 20 (20).
<Liatus> Uh oh
## DM rolled 1d20 = 17 (17).
<DM> The beak misses, snapping on empty air, but both claws hit, one critcally.
## DM rolled 3d3 = 5 (3 1 1).
* 11: Liatus pulls out his Holy UZI +20 of Dragon-Smiting.
<DM> Meepo is gutted where he stands.
<Karnak> "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
<Liatus> Meepo's dead?
* Karnak goes for the appropriate camera angles.
<DM> Not necessarily beyond range of healing, but yes.
<11: Karnak> Technically, Meepo isn't dead... he's dying.
<11: Karnak> He's dead at -10 hp.
<11: DM> Right.
<11: Karnak> So a cure could stablize or rescue him.
<DM> So at the start of the next round...
<11: Karnak> If we agreed to return the dragon, we've got a problem.
<11: Karnak> Cause if we kill it, I'm pretty sure we'll be having to fight some kobolds.
* 11: Liatus has a cunning plan.
* 11: Karnak also has a cunning plan.
<11: DM> And dragons are immune to sleep, as those with sleep spells learn. ("This won't help you with...")
<11: Karnak> But unfortunately, Silana's cunning plan will have to come first.
<DM> Silana, you can act.
<11: Liatus> Well, actually, I was going to use Command to make it dance for a round.
<11: Karnak> Try... it gets a Will Save.
<11: Karnak> That's a good option, though.
<11: Liatus> Bruce, does that mean I can't Command it to Sleep?
<11: Liatus> And us tie it up while it's asleep?
<11: Karnak> It's immune to /sleep/, rather than /command/, I believe. So no.
<11: DM> You can command it to hold still or submit or yield, but not to sleep, I think.
<11: Karnak> And tying it up would mean Use Rope rolls.
* Silana hears the mayhem break loose inside the room, and, not having a line of sight, sidesteps along the opposite wall to get a look at what's happening. When she does, she has to resist the urge to facepalm and shake her head.
<11: Karnak> We could also use subdual damage. -4 to hit, but the damage knocks it out, rather than kills.
<DM> :)
<11: Karnak> (well, no minus for me, being a Monk and all...)
<Karnak> How big is Calcryx, Bruce?
<DM> About two feet long.
<Meridius> Sounds like about the size of a dire rat.
<DM> Smaller when his wings are folded up.
<Karnak> So "Small"?
<DM> But yeah, about the same. And he's Tiny, actually.
* Karnak nods, and has a plan...
<11: Karnak> I have no guarantees this is a good plan...
<11: Karnak> Is it my turn?
<11: DM> It is.
* Silana does take an action, once she gets over her shock: She shouts out, "Somebody TALK to it!"
* Karnak will run into the room, jumping over Meepo's body and will attempt to grapple with Calcryx!
<DM> Fair enough. At some point you need to make a DC 15 Reflexes check to avoid slipping on the ice.
* Karnak is guessing he has to make some kind of roll to keep from falling on his ass like Meepo did?
<Karnak> Can I use Balance instead, or is this a trap?
<DM> (You make that check when you enter the room and are thereafter assumed to be oriented.)
<DM> It's not a trap, it's a maneuvering hazard, so sure.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+5 = 7 (2).
* Karnak oops.
* Karnak falls on his ass instead.
<DM> The rest of Karnak's brilliant plan will have to wait.
<DM> Ercaius stands well out of the way.
<DM> Meridius?
* 11: Silana has visions of her and Ercaius being the lone survivors, and having to explain how the rest of the party was slain by a very small dragon and a patch of ice.
<11: Karnak> Balance checks suck. :)
<11: Karnak> I'm going to get eaten by a dragon the size of a chihuahua.
* Meridius mutters, "Stercus..." to himself and then barks, "Draw the dragon out into the hall!" I then back away from the door, morningstar raised.
<11: Karnak> Meridius is up.
<11: Karnak> Yep, I'm going to get eaten by the dragon. Whee. :)
<11: Karnak> Meepo has to stablize or bleed.
## DM rolled 1d100 = 33 (33).
<11: DM> Never mind. :)
* 11: Karnak hopes Liatus' command spell works.
* Liatus commands the Dragon to Hold still.
<11: Karnak> If I can grapple the dragon, I can pin him, so you can all get +4 to hit, which will counter the -4 for subdual.
<DM> Calcryx listens and struggles to resist....
## DM rolled 1d20+3 = 17 (14).
<11: Liatus> We're going to dogpile on the dragon and beat it unconcious then?
<DM> ...successfully!
<Liatus> Damn it
<11: Karnak> Well, it's that or kill the kobolds god and have to fight the entire tribe of them.
<DM> So Calcryx rears up from Meepo's carcass and unleashes a blast of frosty breath. This'll get Karnak and Liatus and miss the others, I believe.
* Karnak says from the ground, "It's a god, remember."
<DM> Each of you can make a DC12 Reflexes check to halve the damage.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+5 = 7 (2).
<11: Liatus> At this point, I'm ready just to kill every thing I come across.
* Karnak sighs.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+1 = 9 (8).
* Karnak attempt Turtle Defense, too late recalling that duck & cover is not the manuever needed in these situations.
## DM rolled 1d6 = 5 (5).
<Liatus> I give up.
<DM> You each take 5 hp of damage.
## DM rolled 1d4 = 4 (4).
<DM> And any sweat you may have had is gone.
<11: Liatus> Remind me again why the hell I'm even trying to roll dice anymore?
<Karnak> Round 3.
<11: DM> Because every so often you whomp something into oblivion.
<11: Karnak> Because at these levels, it all sucks.
<DM> Silana?
<11: Liatus> I'm going to stick my pizza in the oven while the ice follies continue.
<11: DM> We'll wrap at the end of this encounter.
* Silana asks Ercaius, as she prepares to take her action, "How do you feel about healing dragons?"
<DM> Ercaius says, "I can, I suppose, in time of need."
* Silana nods. "Good." And hefts her crossbow and fires.
## Silana rolled 1d20+3 = 10 (7).
<11: Silana> So much for that. :P
<DM> Karnak, once you get up, what next? :)
* 11: Silana was SO hoping for a critical just then. ;)
* Karnak staggers to his feet, shaking ice from his tunic, and will try to make his way... he pauses, looks at the itty bitty dragon with its sharp teeth, its tiny claws, and opts to try and back out of the room. "Sorry, Meepo."
## Karnak rolled 1d20+5 = 14 (9).
* 11: Liatus wants to keep playing as long as anyone else does. I'm just hungry and the pizza takes a half hour to cook.
<Karnak> Is that enough to avoid slipping, Bruce?
<DM> Oh, you only had to make that check once. You can retreat without any fuss.
* Karnak does so, then.
<DM> Ercaius looks in at the scene and still feels he doesn't have much useful to contribute.
<DM> Meridius?
<Meridius> I'm holding my action for this round, waiting to see if the dragon comes out of the room, possibly in pursuit of Karnak.
<DM> Meepo tries to stabilize again.
## DM rolled 1d100 = 33 (33).
<DM> And again does not.
<DM> Liatus?
* Liatus whistles at the dragon and waves his arms in an effort to draw it's attention from Karnak and out into the room.
<DM> Calcryx sees many interesting potential meals... :)
* Liatus waves the bugbear head at it too if that helps any.
## DM rolled 1d2 = 2 (2).
<DM> And decides that the severed head _plus_ handwaving warrants attention. He flaps out into the hallway, and snaps his beak at Liatus.
## DM rolled 1d20+5 = 10 (5).
<Liatus> "Whit! Whit! Here, dragon dragon dragon."
<DM> He must have bit the bugbear head.
* Liatus backs away.
<DM> Meridius?
<Meridius> Is he in a position such that I may approach and attack without having to step on the ice?
<DM> Yes, he's now out in the temple hall.
<11: Karnak> Subdue! Subdue! I'm not ready to fight all the kobolds.
<DM> You can take a couple of steps and swing at him, or stab, depending on which weapon you're using.
* Meridius steps up and brings down the morningstar on the dragon in a vicious arc.
<11: Liatus> If we subdue it and then kill all the kobolds, can I keep it as a pet?
* 11: Karnak notes, Order has changed: Silana, Karnak, Ercaius, Meepo, Liatus, Calcryx, Meridius.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+5 = 20 (15).
<11: Karnak> We could probably sell it.
* 11: Liatus wants to name it "Snappy"
<DM> You do a base of 1d8+1 with the morningstar.
## Meridius rolled 1d8+3 = 4 (1).
* 11: Karnak sees we're going to be fighting all the kobolds soon, then. :)
<DM> Calcryx yelps in pain.
<Karnak> Round 4.
* 11: Meridius has a better plan than Karnak's or Liatus', so just shut up and lets kill the damned thing. :)
<DM> At the start of the next round, Silana may act again.
<11: Meridius> If I held my action for one round, why would the initiative order change permanently?
<11: Liatus> Does this plan involve "let Meepo die and don't go back to the kobolds til we're 5th level?
<11: Karnak> Actually, this might make it easier to knock out.
<11: Meridius> No, it just involves some deception that'll make use of the bugbear head you're carrying.
<11: Karnak> If the subdual damage = its current hit points, it'll fall unconcious.
* 11: Meridius notes that his last swing was /not/ subdual damage.
<11: Karnak> Right, so it'll make it easier to knock it out.
* 11: Karnak is old school, man. You knock dragons out.
* Silana sighs, and looses another crossbow bolt. At -4 I presume, since it's now in melee with Meridius? I can't do enough damage to take it to -10, regardless, unless I critical so it's pretty safe.
<11: DM> Chris, in D&D, delay affects the rest of the combat.
<DM> Right, Silana.
* 11: Meridius notes that even if someone else knocks the dragon out, it's still gonna end up dead shortly thereafter.
## Silana rolled 1d20-1 = 2 (3).
* Silana misses badly.
<11: Meridius> I'm not sure I'm down with that, Bruce.
<DM> Karnak.
<11: Liatus> Don't kill Snappy, please.
<11: DM> Wouldn't really be my choice either, but there you go. This is still me figuring out the damn rules.
<Karnak> Am I within 5 ft. of the dragon?
<DM> Yes.
<11: Karnak> If you opt to hold your action until someone else does something, you then go after than person for the rest of the combat.
<11: Meridius> That's okay. I'm given to understand if I back off and reset, I automatically go to the top of the initiative order.
* Karnak will 5ft step over, and try to stunning attack the dragon, followed with another normal strike. Subdual damage, with flanking, right?
## Karnak rolled 1d20+1 = 21 (20).
<Karnak> Possible Crit.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+1 = 8 (7).
<Karnak> Nope. And second shot.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+1 = 2 (1).
<Karnak> Misses.
## Karnak rolled 1d6 = 6 (6).
<DM> So that takes him up to 10 hp, 6 of which are subdual.
<DM> He yelps again.
<Karnak> So 6 hp, subdual. Plus Calcryx has to make a Fort save (DC 13) or lose his next action.
## DM rolled 1d20+4 = 9 (5).
<11: Karnak> No point, actually.
<DM> Ercaius steps up and tries to bonk the dragon in a subduing sort of way.
<11: Karnak> Just act.
## DM rolled 1d20 = 1 (1).
<DM> Meepo tries to stabilize.
## DM rolled 1d100 = 72 (72).
<Karnak> (Yay! I actually stunned someone!)
<DM> Meepo continues to bleed.
<Karnak> "Someone should look after Meepo!"
<DM> Liatus?
* 11: Meridius notes that in his plan, it works better if Meepo is dead.
<11: Karnak> Cure Minor Wound would stablized Meepo.
* Liatus continues to wave the head under Snappy's nose in an effort to distract it from Karnak and Meridius.
* Karnak notes, Snappy is looking fairly dazed.
<DM> BA, keep in mind that Calcryx is stunned this turn, so if you want to smack him, you can.
<Karnak> (No Dex for AC, either...!)
* Liatus will slap the dragon with the flat of his sword then.
<Karnak> Not that this matters with Dex 10. But.
<DM> -4 for subdual, +2 for flanking.
<Liatus> So just a flat d20 roll then?
<Karnak> Yep
## Liatus rolled 1d20 = 5 (5).
<DM> Calcryx is stunned.
<DM> Meridius?
* Meridius attempts to crush the dragon's skull.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+7 = 14 (7).
<DM> That hits.
## Meridius rolled 1d8+3 = 5 (2).
<Karnak> 9 real + 6 subdual, 15 total.
<DM> So a total of 15 hp of damage so far. He's trickling chilly blood now.
<DM> Silana?
<Karnak> Round 5
<Silana> Dragon's still up, but bleeding?
<DM> Right.
<Silana> Stunned, or not?
<DM> Now unstunned.
<DM> Though Karnak may fix that. :)
<Karnak> Nope, I'm out of stunning attacks (1 wasted on the bugbear, see)
* Silana decides firing into the crowd is a bad idea, and holds her action. If it lasts the round, she'll attack at the end after the others.
<DM> Righto.
<DM> Ercaius disengages to go tend to Meepo. This does draw an AoO for Calcryx...
## DM rolled 1d20+5 = 12 (7).
<DM> Who makes pretty good use of it. If it weren't for Meridius' armor-adapting skill, that is!
* Karnak is supposed to go before Ercaius...!
<DM> Oh, oops.
<DM> Karnak, act.
* Karnak swats the dragon a couple time.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+1 = 2 (1).
## Karnak rolled 1d20+1 = 2 (1).
<11: Liatus> At this point, I do need to ask what was our exact agreement with the kobolds?
<11: Silana> Dear Lord.
<Karnak> "Wooo! Liatus, stop hitting me with that bugbear head! I can't see for crap, agh!"
<11: DM> Yusdrayl said that if you returned Calcryx to the tribe, she would reward you.
<DM> Meepo tries to stablize.
<11: Liatus> Returned alive?
## DM rolled 1d100 = 87 (87).
<11: DM> She didn't actually specify.
<DM> Liatus?
<Karnak> Didn't Ercaius stablized Meepo?
<11: Silana> Our dice hate us all so horribly today. Two 1's in a row?
<Karnak> (perhaps with a Cure Minor Wounds?)
<DM> He'll be in position for that next turn.
* Liatus tries to swat the dragon again with the flat of his sword.
## Liatus rolled 1d20 = 3 (3).
<DM> Calcryx bites at the man with the head again.
## DM rolled 1d20+5 = 7 (2).
<DM> But is again distracted by the head.
<DM> Meridius?
* Meridius takes another swing with the morningstar.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+7 = 22 (15).
<DM> Another hit.
## Meridius rolled 1d8+3 = 6 (3).
<11: Karnak> Since it is there god, I'd expect alive.
<11: Karnak> Unless I was Lawful Evil, in which case, I'd hold the inexact terms against her.
<DM> That takes him to 21 points of damage. He's bashed up pretty badly now.
<DM> Silana, you had a held action here.
<Silana> Wait, phone
* Meridius orders Silana to hold her fire.
* 11: Liatus asks because, as a Lawful character and a cleric of Law, I'm questioning whether or not I'd engage in falsehood to cover up the deliberate welshing on our agreement.
<11: Liatus> Even if I am LN.
<11: DM> I'm thinking that insofar as the Law is the Law of the Empire and this is not a formal treaty, you could go ahead and blow her off.
* 11: Liatus nods.
<11: DM> If you'd taken an oath of any sort, that would be a different matter.
* 11: Meridius has a plan, but can't really tell everyone about it until the combat is over.
* 11: Maya thinks you ought to take the little dragon alive and bring it up to serve the Empire. :)
<11: Karnak> Okay, Lawful Good - you'd interpret it with some leniency. The spirit of the pact was to return the dragon alive. LN, you're interested in the rules ... so it's mostly up to you how much you're bound by it (personal code of honor, maybe). And Lawful Evil, screw the bitch... she didn't hammer out the fine points so its a loophole to exploit.
<11: Karnak> Karnak agreed to return the dragon, alive, and he's pretty much a man of his word, so.
* 11: Liatus wonders if he he brought the dragons head back, threw it down and claimed I'd killed it because the Imperial Presence is more powerful than their god, and there for they should submit to my god, if it'd win me any converts.
<Karnak> We can assume Silana obeys and move on?
<DM> Sure.
<DM> So at the start of the next round, it's Karnak.
<11: Karnak> I dunno. That sounds half-evil to me.
<11: Karnak> Winning converts on the "Join... or else" method and all.
* Karnak will continue trying to swat the dragon unconcious.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+1 = 5 (4).
## Karnak rolled 1d20+1 = 6 (5).
<11: Liatus> No, there's no threat. Just a leason in how much better my god is than theirs.
<Karnak> And continues to miss. Sigh.
<11: Liatus> :)
<DM> Emphasis on "try".
<11: Silana> Sorry, that was Scott calling from the con to let me know he has a ride back, and I don't have to go back down there after this and get him.
<Karnak> Oh, and Round 6.
<11: Karnak> Ercaius is up.
<DM> Ercaius calls upon the gods of the grove to protect this...er, well, this well-intentioned child of the earth, and casts Cure Minor Wounds. That stabilizes Meepo at -6 hp.
* 11: Karnak thinks if the plan involves killing Meepo and the dragon and then lying to the Queen about, he's not comfortable with that.
<DM> Liatus?
* Liatus swats the dragon again. Do I still get flanking bonus?
* 11: Meridius' plan will make Karnak uncomfortable.
<Karnak> "Knock it down, Liatus!"
<DM> Yes, you do.
## Liatus rolled 1d20 = 1 (1).
* 11: Karnak suggests perhaps an adjustment to the plan? :)
* Liatus apparently loses his grip on his sword.
<11: Karnak> Damn Neutral bugger. :)
<11: Meridius> I have an alternative, but Meepo either needs to be dead, keep his mouth shut, or go along with us.
<Karnak> "No, no. Drop the head, and use the swor ... ah! Watch where you swing that thing?!"
<DM> Calcryx tries to fly off a short distance and unleash his icy breath again. This draws AoOs from, if I'm figuring correctly, Karnak, Liatus, and Meridius.
<11: Karnak> Well, on the other hand, we could return the dragon and meepo.
* 11: Liatus notes that he'd also be unhappy with murdering Meepo, who, up until this point has been a loyal, if retarded, ally.
<11: Karnak> And tell the queen we're sure the goblins are still a threat, so she doesn't betray us right away
<11: Silana> How high is the ceiling in here?
<11: DM> 15' or so.
<Karnak> Unless he opts to 5 ft step, Bruce.
<Karnak> Which he could do, flying straight up, if he wanted.
<11: Silana> Okay, can I take my action at some point here? It really is in line with what I was planning...
<11: DM> In a moment, yes, Silana.
<Karnak> So he could avoid AoO and probably catch at least two of us three in his breath cone.
<DM> Oh, right. Up.
<Karnak> And also make it difficult for those of us without ranged weapons to hit him.
<DM> DC 12 Reflex checks on the part of Karnak, Liatus, and Meridius.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+5 = 20 (15).
## Meridius rolled 1d20+2 = 15 (13).
<Karnak> Finally. Thanks to Evasion, I'll take no damage.
## DM rolled 1d3 = 3 (3).
<DM> Meridius, you take three points of chilly freezing type damage.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+1 = 4 (3).
## DM rolled 1d6 = 5 (5).
<DM> Liatus, you take 5 hp of the same sort.
<11: Liatus> I believe that something is wrong with my dice.
<11: Karnak> Hey, I've rolled worse than you have so far. :)
<DM> Meridius, Calcryx is now up overhead, out of swinging range.
<11: Liatus> I think I've only rolled one result over 10 all night.
* Meridius drops his morningstar, reaches back into his brace and in a smooth motion draws and throws a pilum at the dragon.
<Meridius> Is a flanking bonus still applicable?
<Karnak> No, since we're not exerting threat zones on him anymore.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+2 = 11 (9).
<DM> Alas, no go.
<DM> Now, Silana.
* Silana grabs up her staff again, letting her crossbow dangle from its sling, and, stepping forward, takes a swing at the dragon as it flies up (assuming the length of the staff gives me enough reach)... If it's clear it will be out of reach, she shoots at it instead.
<11: Karnak> I just realized Silana is the onyl good person here!
<11: Silana> Yep. :)
<11: Meridius> Ercaius is probably good, too.
<11: Karnak> True.
<11: Karnak> Are we going to kill him too, to keep his silence.
<DM> You can reach him with the staff, yes.
* 11: Karnak ahems. :)
* Silana swings to bonk.
## Silana rolled 1d20 = 3 (3).
## DM rolled 1d4 = 1 (1).
* 11: Silana gahs.
<DM> Next round. Karnak?
* Karnak snatches up the lantern pole (10') and will try and knock the dragon down with it.
<DM> Go for it. :)
## Karnak rolled 1d20+1 = 19 (18).
<DM> That there is a hit.
## Karnak rolled 1d6 = 2 (2).
<Karnak> That'd be real damage.
<DM> That takes him to 23 hp, of which 8 are subdual damage.
<DM> Oh, okay.
<DM> 23 hp, of which 6 are subdual. :)
<DM> He's pretty bonked.
<DM> Ercaius watches in astonishment, then applies another round of Cure Minor Wounds to Meepo.
<DM> Liatus?
<Karnak> Oh, round 7.
<Karnak> Liatus has javelins now, doesn't he.
<DM> He does.
* Liatus tries throwing a javelin.
<DM> And throwing one would be a straight d20 roll.
<Karnak> Should be +1 Dex + 1 BAB = +2.
<DM> Oh, okay.
## Liatus rolled 1d20+2 = 3 (1).
<Liatus> This is getting ridiculous.
<DM> Calcryx breathes again. DC 12 Reflex saves from all the gentleman PCs.
## Karnak rolled 1d20+5 = 21 (16).
## Meridius rolled 1d20+2 = 20 (18).
## Liatus rolled 1d20+1 = 19 (18).
* Karnak skips to one side.
## DM rolled 1d3 = 2 (2).
<DM> You each take 2hp of damage, apart from Karnak, who's just too fast for any of it.
## DM rolled 1d4 = 2 (2).
<DM> Meridius?
<Meridius> I repeat my earlier attack with my second pilum, though I hope with better results.
## Meridius rolled 1d20+2 = 13 (11).
<DM> That hits.
## Meridius rolled 1d6+2 = 8 (6).
<Karnak> That should bring it to 25 real + 6 subdual = 31.
<DM> You get a good solid blow, and he falls in an unconscious heap on the ground. He be subdued.
<Karnak> "Yay!"
* Meridius moves to recover both his pilum and his morningstar.
<11: Karnak> Shall we cut it there, before we argue over what to do next? :)
<11: DM> 300 XP for bringing down Calcryx.
* Silana will collect up her expended crossbow bolts before we leave.
<11: Karnak> So 60 each.
<11: DM> I can continue for a bit, or rather I can sit back and watch you argue for a bit. :) I'm too tired for much for running but don't mind answering questions that would come up in the debate.
* 11: Karnak has to leave to go to a party, so. :)
<11: DM> Then let's pause here. Any immediate questions?
<11: Meridius> None from me.
<11: DM> Subdual damage wears off at the rate of 1 point per hour, by the way, so you have at least an hour until Calcryx wakes up again.
<Liatus> Yo know, I really hope the gnome has some CLW spells left.
<Meridius> I don't think he does.
<11: Karnak> Hopefully, we'll have turned him over to the kobolds by then.
<Karnak> Thanks for the game, guys!
<Meridius> Seeya, Jason.
*** Signoff: Karnak (EOF from client) at Sat Feb 8 5:37 PM PST.
<Liatus> You know why I hope he does?

<Bruce> Grunk. And this is why I want to run a no-combat playtest of Gamma World. :)
* Liatus waits for someone to guess the answer.
<Bruce> Dunno. Why?
* iChris forfeits his right to guess in this instance.
<Liatus> Because I'm at 0 hps.
<Silana> No idea.
<Silana> Oh.
